Newly Formed Island Wide Home Builders’ Association Launches the 1st Annual VIBE Awards
(Vancouver Island Building Excellence)
Vancouver Island (February 4, 2015) – The Victoria and Central Vancouver Island locals of the Canadian
Home Builders’ Association joined forces recently to create a strengthened, island wide association: The
Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Vancouver Island (CHBA-VI). The merger offers members all the
benefits of CHBA membership including access to the latest in education and training, advocacy at the
provincial and national levels, Provincial Georgie Awards®, and conferences while allowing for greater
efficiencies at the local level.
“One of the benefits of our amalgamation is the opportunity to offer members an inclusive, island wide
awards program,” said CHBA-VI President Chris Cross. “We’ve got world class homes being built here on
the island, we want to celebrate that!” he added.
An awards program is also valuable for consumers. Award winning companies and finalists play an
important role in helping consumers to differentiate between professionals and non-professionals.
Companies who have entered a professional awards program are communicating clearly that they are a
professional, committed to their business and proud to be part of the industry and the Association.
Consumers can be confident in hiring a VIBE award winner or finalist company.
The VIBE Awards were officially launched in January this year. The Call for Entries is on now until March
16th and the CHBA-VI is pleased to invite all professional member companies involved in the residential
building industry to participate in the Inaugural 2015 VIBE Awards. For the inaugural year, the eligibility
period has been extended to include projects and products that were built, renovated, developed,
created and/or marketed for the period of January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2014. Entries will be judged

by a distinguished panel of highly qualified British Columbia judges external to Vancouver Island,
selected for their individual expertise.
Finalists and winners will be celebrated at a black tie awards gala on Saturday, May 23rd, 2015 at the
Coast Bastion Hotel in Nanaimo. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling CHBA-VI.
