Kitchen Fire Safety Tips by Sparky the Fire Dog
Do you like helping in the kitchen? Making yummy snacks is fun,
but it is important to be safe when cooking. All kids are
different, and a grown up should decide what is safe for you. But here
are some ways to help if you are 7 to 8 years old:
Open packages
Use a butter knife to spread frosting, cream cheese, peanut butter or
soft cheese
Peel vegetables
Measure ingredients
Stir ingredients in a bowl
Read the story and answer the questions below:
When Sparky was a puppy, he liked to help his mom bake. Eating dog biscuits made Sparky
happy. Sparky’s mom gave him four important jobs to do in the kitchen. The first job was to
use a biscuit cutter to cut bone shapes from the dough.
Sparky’s other jobs were about safety. His second job was to watch the timer to make sure
the biscuits didn’t burn. His third job was to stay three feet away from the stove so that he
didn’t get hurt. His fourth job was to make sure that the biscuits were cool before eating
them.
The best part of making biscuits was sharing them with his friends!
