Best known as Winnie
McGoogan in her brother
Brendan’s successful BBC
sitcom, ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’,
Eilish comes into her own here

eventful life that includes a
strict Catholic upbringing, two
failed marriages and coming out
as a lesbian at the age of 50.
A 1950s baby, and the ninth of
ten children, she describes her
childhood with affection and
good humour. The end result
is a warm, witty triumph that
joyously celebrates being true

Bag for Life
The Playhouse presents Bag
for Life, a one woman play by
Colin Bateman and directed by
Kieran Griffiths.
“What are we to make of the
men of violence whose time
has been and gone? Has their
capacity for murder somehow
drained away, or will it always
be there, like a lining of grease
and fat lurking in their mental
plumbing?”
Julie Addy stars in this one
woman play from award

(Divorcing Jack, The Journey)
that, with wickedly dark
humour, peers deep into the
dark soul of 21st century
Northern Ireland.

an unusual view of the ups and
downs of having a dog as your
best friend. The performance
lasts 30 minutes and is followed

Anthony Toner
Anthony Toner celebrates the release of his seventh
album, ‘Ink’, with a Northern Ireland tour. This new
collection finds the Belfast-based songwriter in top
form on a series of stripped back songs dealing with
the big themes of love, loss and happiness. It’s been
almost a decade since the release of his much-loved
song ‘Sailortown’, and since then he has continued
to release albums packed with insightful songs that
lodge themselves in the heart, like ‘East of Louise’,
‘Well Well Well’, ‘The Road to Fivemiletown’ and more.
As always, expect some beautiful guitar playing and
singing and some great stories from the road.

Tragic Magic
A solo exhibition of paintings
by Ciaran Magill
Ciaran Magill (38) presents
Tragic Magic, a new series of
landscape paintings which
combine seductive beauty
with spooky edginess. The
exhibition is curated by
Brendan Jamison, his longtime friend, who has written
a small book to tie in with
the show. It will be launched
at the opening on Thursday 4
May at 7pm. A former student
at the Downpatrick campus
of SERC, Magill has enjoyed a
career of extensive exhibitions
across Northern Ireland.
Internationally, he has shown
regularly in New York, as well as
Florida, Georgia, California and
Michigan. Meanwhile in Europe,
he has exhibited in Germany,
Italy and England. Magill has

The Silent Life
of Things
This exhibition is an interesting
depiction of still life through
the medium of oil. The
emphasis of my work is the
connection between art, life,
the moment of meditating
before the subject matter,
capturing its soul - something
which I believe cannot be done
by painting from photographs,
as well as preserving for me a
visual diary of memories. For
this reason I’d like to call my
exhibition The Silent Life of
Things. Because even though
the objects in my work cannot
talk or speak, they create
an impression through their
physical relationship with one
another.

Does your child love to be creative and try out their

introduction to wet handmade felting. Felting is the
process of fusing wool fibres together. Most children
tend to love the tactility of felt making – the
fluffiness of the wool top and the squishiness of the
felt once it’s all wet. We will begin with a demo on
how to make felt and learn how to make a felt snake

danger… Maybe a lot of danger.

Faerie Thorn
Bag for Life
“It’s Wine O’Clock”
The Faerie Thorn is a witty, dark
and wickedly comedic show that
recreates the author’s bewitching
Faerie tales for adults.
The Playhouse presents Bag for
Life, a one woman play by Colin
Bateman and directed by Kieran
Griffiths.
Rozlyn Sheridan and Teresa McBride
reprise - their side-splitting
comedy.
Based on the book ‘The Faerie
Thorn and Other Stories’ by Jane
Talbot, The Faerie Thorn will
recreate Talbot’s dark, imaginative
and bewitching tales, propelling
the audience into a world of
devilish debts, trysts and trades,
broken bargains and unjust trials;
of magic, quick-wittedness,
hoodwinking and revenge. The
stories inhabit an incredibly vivid
and dangerous world controlled
by a complex fairy mafia including
factions like the memory takers,
the time keepers, the bad talkers
and trolls, which humans tackle at
their peril.
“What are we to make of the men
of violence whose time has been
and gone? Has their capacity for
murder somehow drained away, or
will it always be there, like a lining
of grease and fat lurking in their
mental plumbing?”
