Photo Story
Old Hamlet, King of Denmark, is recently dead, and his
brother, Claudius, has assumed the throne and married
his widow, Gertrude.
Young Hamlet, returning from abroad, talks to his mother
and the new king after the marriage.
Bury your
grief and
shape up!
How could you
forget your
husband and
remarry so fast?
Your
Majesty,
may I go to
Paris to
study?
The king graciously allows Laertes to go to Paris.
Hamlet wants to go back to Wittenberg but he has to
stay in Denmark.
The ghost of Hamlet’s father appears and tells him the
truth...
My own
brother
poisoned
me, avenge
me!
I promise!
Hamlet doesn’t know what to do and pretends to have
lost his mind.
He even considers suicide.
To be, or not
to be, that’s
the question…
Although Hamlet is in love with Ophelia, he feels the
need to push her away because he has to avenge his
father’s foul murder.
Get thee
to a
nunnery!
After Ophelia leaves, Hamlet is on the way to his
mother’s bedroom. He sees Claudius praying…
...and wants to kill him.
But he decides…
I can’t
do this!
...to wait for a better opportunity.
No, he doesn’t
deserve to go
to heaven.
Hamlet is angry with his mother because of her fast
marriage to his uncle.
My dear
son…
You whore!
Oh
Hamlet,
speak no
more!
The ghost appears, but Gertrude cannot see him.
Respect
your
mother!
He’s
truly mad!
But she has
betrayed
you, father!
Polonius is hiding behind the curtain. He has listened to
everything. Hamlet thinks it is Claudius and stabs him
through the curtain.
I think I
heard a
rat!
Her brother in Paris, her father murdered by her lover…
Ophelia is not herself anymore.
Oh, what a
beautiful cat!
All alone, she walks into the water and drowns…
As time goes by Hamlet changes…
A company of players are performing Claudius’ murder
of the king, but Hamlet only has eyes for Claudius.
I’m
watching
you…
Laertes has come back and wants to revenge his
father’s murder and Ophelia’s death…
…and they
fight…
...and
Laertes, too,
dies.
KAPOW
Gertrude drinks to Hamlet’s victory but the wine is
poisoned.
Noooo!!
Don’t drink
that, it’s
Hamlet’s
wine!!!
Too late,
I’m dying.
Why?
Hamlet forces Claudius to drink from the poisonous wine
and cuts his throat.
Muhahaha!
That’s what
you deserve!
Hamlet dies in Horatio’s arms of his wounds inflicted by
a poisoned bullet earlier.
The rest is
silence!
Everyone is dead. What a dramatic ending!
