Satan - The Counterfeit – Lesson 3: Far reaching effects of the NIV

Satan - The Counterfeit – Lesson 3: Far reaching effects of the NIV
Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the Lord hate; yea, seven are an abomination to him:
A proud look,
A lying tongue,
And hands that shed innocent blood,
A heart that deviseth wicked immaginations,
Feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies,
And he that soweth discord among the brethren.

Lesson 3: Far reaching effects of the NIV
A look at ‘what’ is the impact of the NIV on man’s salvation?
First – How is the truth of God (the offering of the Christ) received
Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they
believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, extort with all
long suffering and doctrine
-
The truth is to be offered from one person to another, that a believer’s faith will cause them to
share what God has done through Jesus Christ.
-
The truth is in His Word – Which is given from one to another (God has chosen us to bring His
Word to the lost, that they may choose God through Jesus Christ)
Second – The strategy of Satan – Not to challenge, but to transform
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had
made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
-
Satan knows the Word of God: Satan does not directly confront the truth with opposition, but
alters the truth slightly to create an opportunity to accept the lie as a ‘version of truth’.
-
Satan selects targets: Choosing one who does not have the truth is easier to present an
altered (alternate) truth – Less likely to have contradiction.
John 8:14 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer
from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a
lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it.
-
Satan is not only a good liar, but the original deceiver, who transmits his craft into those who
knowingly or unknowingly accept his direction.

Third - Additional comparison of text (some significant differences):
KJV / NIV
Mark 10:24
KJV – And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and said unto
them, Children, how hard it is for them that trust in riches to enter into the Kingdom of God.
NIV – The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is to
enter into the Kingdom of God.”
For them that trust in riches - A select and consequential omission
Addressing the concept of wealth – Assumption: Rich / successful are in favor with God
KJV: Jesus it pointing out that faith in the wealth of this world will not bring you to God
NIV: Simply states ‘how hard it is’ with no guidance
Matthew 9:13b
KJV – For I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
NIV – For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
To repentance - A select and consequential omission
Purpose of calling – Repentance is a key component of our new nature
John 6:47
KJV – Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
NIV – Very truly I tell you, the one that believes has eternal life.
On me - A select and consequential omission
Removing Christ – Not defining what the object of belief is
Luke 11:2
KJV – And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy
name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done as in heaven, so on earth.
NIV – He said unto them, :when you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.
Hebrews 10:34c
KJV – …Knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better place and an enduring substance.
NIV – … Because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.
Revelation 16:17
KJV – And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the
temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
NIV – The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice
from the throne, saying, “it is done!”
In heaven - A select and consequential omission
Removing the habitation of God – The NIV has an aversion to ‘heaven’ .
This is our promise – That we would have a place with Christ in heaven (John 14:2)
1 John 5:7-8
KJV – (7) For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost:
and these three are one.
(8) And there are three that bear witness in the earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood:
and these three agree in one
NIV – (7) For there are three that testify:
(8) The spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.
Bear record
Bear witness
Father, Word, Holy Ghost – These three are one
Replaced with – ”Testify”.
Challenging the very concept of a triune Godhead – Replacing with the elements of the
world (Satan’s world – for now)
Third – Omission of text (change the truth through omission)
Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost
Also missing: Matthew 23:14, Mark 7:16, 9:44+46, 11:26, 15:28, Luke 4:8, 17:36, 23:17, John
5:4, Acts 8:37, 15:34, 23:9, 24:7, 28:29, Romans 16:24, 1 Timothy 6:5, 1 John 5:13
Forth – NIV justification
Claims of modernization:
Quora (web site review) –
“They've different versions of the Bible with the KJV, the King James Version, written in the
17th century, being the older translation.”
“The NIV, the New International Version, was written recently. ... The KJV is a more direct,
word-for-word translation; the NIV more "dynamic equivalent" (idea-for-idea).”
Evidence for Christianity - What is the difference between the KJV and the NIV? – Article by John Oakes (2005)
What is the difference between the KJV and the NIV?
The simple answer is that people make a big deal about the difference between the NIV (New
International Version) and the KJV (King James Version) because they are stuck in a tradition.
Some people have become so tied into the particular wording used in the KJV that they
strongly resist changing translations.
Conclusion - Manipulating the inspired word of God to be something else
Satan is polluting the truth of God and our Lord Jesus Christ with the careful manipulation of doctrinal
truths.
The true impact cannot be known, since someone can be led be the Spirit and saved – All that is
required is the belief in Jesus Christ (John 3:16)
However, if one was to calculate how many Christian churches were not using the 1611 KJV, that
would put some scope on the reach Satan has throughout the world.
In the conclusion of this lesson – there is only one True / False question for the final exam:
Is the NIV an acceptable replacement for the 1611 KJV Bible?
True
False
