Internet Explorer Internet explorer updates normally happen without you even knowing. Most updates on Windows computers happen when you fully shut down and restart your computer. But there are times when it does not update on its own. 1. How to check what version of Internet Explorer you are running? Open Internet Explorer, then click the wrench icon on the top right. From the drop down menu, choose About Internet Explorer. You will get a pop up that shows what version of Internet Explorer you are running. 2. What if I don’t have Internet Explorer 11? If you do not have the latest version of Internet Explorer, please perform the following: From the start menu, click Control Panel. From the control panel, choose “Check for updates” Follow the instructions in order to perform the update. You will be asked to restart computer once updates complete. Updates can take anywhere from 4-10 minutes. Once updates are complete and computer restarts, open Internet Explorer and verify that you are now on the latest Internet Explorer version.
