Last night, the Lady Plugs volleyball team defeated Pike in 3! Their efforts were led by
Melanie McHenry with 28 kills, Natalie Owens with 31 assists, and Ristoria Perry with
19 digs. Last nights win puts them at 6-4 on the season.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL CALL-OUT MEETING
There will be a boys’ basketball call-out meeting on Thursday, September 18, at 7:32 AM in
the library. ALL boys wishing to try-out for the freshman, junior varsity, or varsity basketball teams
should attend. This meeting will provide information for pre-season conditioning and official try-out
dates. At this time, physicals can be turned into Coach Bennett. ANYONE WANTING TO TRY-OUT
MUST HAVE A PHYSICAL ON FILE WITH THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT, A DRUG TESTING
CONSENT FORM, A TRANSPORTATION FORM, A MEDICAL EMERGENCY FORM, AND A
CONCUSSION FORM BY MONDAY, OCTOBER 6.
If there are any questions, you can see Coach Bennett in the counseling office.
Seniors are encouraged to frequently check the Guidance Homepage calendar on the SHS
website for scheduled College representative visitations. Let Mrs. Baker in the
Guidance Office to know if you are interested in a specific scheduled visit.

The United Negro College Fund is hosting a Scholarship Workshop for students and
parents on Wednesday, September 17th at the Pike Freshman Center from 6-7:30 pm.

September!

Reminder Students: Tonight from 5-7pm you can come to the Speedway Town Library

right after school until 6:30. Please wear clothes that you can dance in and bring a
