Call to Order and Welcome
Dr. Susan MacDonald welcomed the members and called the meeting to order at
1641 h.
2.
Review and Approval of Agenda
The Agenda was approved as circulated.
Motion: Motion by Leonie Herx, seconded by Jeff Myers to approve the agenda
as circulated. Carried.
3.
Minutes of Last Annual General Meeting – May 30, 2014
Motion: Motion by Jeff Myers, seconded by Robin Love to approve the minutes
of the 2014 Annual General Meeting (May 30, 2014) of the Canadian Society of
Palliative Care Physicians be approved as circulated. Carried.
4.
Report of Nominations Committee – Dr. Doris Barwich
Several people will still remain on the Board including, Susan MacDonald,
President, Bernard Lapointe, Secretary, Leonie Herx, Monica Branigan and Ted
St. Godard. Transitioning off of the Board is Doris Barwich, Jeff Myers, Jessica
Simon, Paul Daeninck. David Henderson is up for re-election.
As per the new bylaws, once the new Board is elected by the members, then the
Board will choose whom they want to serve within 30 days of election. Susan
MacDonald will continue as President for one more year and then transition into
the Past-President position. The Secretary will continue for one more year for
Dr. Bernard Lapointe. Treasurer and President-Elect are up for election by the
Board.
Presentation of Candidates (Seven candidates, five Director At Large positions).
Candidates: Drs. Anne Boyle, Stephanie Connidis, James Downar, Bruno
Gagnon, Dave Henderson, Noush Mirohessini, Stephen Singh (absent).
Candidates presented themselves to the membership. Dr. Stephen Singh was
not present, however his letter of interest was read aloud by Nominating
Committee Chair Dr. Doris Barwich.

Report of the President – Dr. Susan MacDonald
Dr. Susan MacDonald summarized the President’s Report (attached) and talked
about the achievements of the Society over the past year of how we have grown
in tremendous ways, including the various partnerships that have been
developed and the research work we have taken on. We have created a
significant momentum and would like to build on our present successes. Our
present Board from 2014 - 2015 is:






Susan encouraged each of our members to strive to fulfill our Vision, Mission &
Goals.
She stated that despite the decrease in membership numbers for many
organizations, we are one of the few that is growing and she presented the
membership status as of May 29, 2015.
Susan announced the award winners for 2015 and invited everyone to the dinner
tonight to watch the presentations.
6.
Report of Treasurer - Dr. David Henderson
David highlighted the Financial Report and reviewed the 2014 Engagement
Report (step down from audit). The last couple of years we had to run a bit of a
deficit in order to provide assistance and stability for the CSPCP.
For 2015 – 2016 we are looking at building a profit. He encouraged members to
seek out new members, people who are involved in palliative care.
Motion: Motion by Srini Chary, seconded by Monica Branigan to accept the
Financial Report and the Review Engagement Report for the Canadian Society
of Palliative Care Physicians for the financial year ending 31st December 2014.
Carried.
Motion: Motion by Jessica Simon, seconded by Ken Stakiw that the accountant
firm of Romanovsky and Associates of Edmonton be appointed to perform the
Review Engagement Report for the Canadian Society of Palliative Care
Physicians for the financial year ending 31st December 2015. Carried.

Q & A with the Board – Dr. Susan MacDonald
The members were allowed to ask any questions they had for the Board.
8.
Election results and welcome to new Directors – Dr. Susan MacDonald
Susan welcomed Anne Boyle, Stephanie Connidis, Bruno Gagnon, Dave
Henderson, and Stephen Singh.
A short Board meeting of the 2015-2016 Board will be held on May 30, 2015.
9.
Recognition of outgoing Board Members – Dr. Susan MacDonald
Acknowledged Kim Taylor and Michelle Veer for their on-going hard work and
dedication to the Society.
Thanked Jeff Myers, Paul Daeninck, and Jessica Simon for their support in their
time on the Board.
Thanked Leonie Herx for her work on the conference this year.
Thanked Dr. Doris Barwich for her work on the Board.
Doris gave some words of advice and a thank you speech.
Srini Chary thanked the Board, staff and membership for bringing the conference
to Calgary, AB.
