The yeladim have been so artistic in helping to create Shushan Town ,and the five favorite Purim characters. As you walk into our classroom you will see hamantashen hanging from our ceiling, masks on the bulletin, and our entire kitchen area transformed into the exciting town of Shushan. Come visit so that you can get transported hundreds of years back into Jewish History… The Purim Story Every day the yeladim get entertained by a marvelous Purim puppet show. Many, many years ago there was a king named Achashverosh. He invited the Jews to a party but Mordechai Hatzadik told the Jews not to go because there would be non kosher food and wine and Hashem would get very upset if they went. The Jews didn’t listen and went to the royal party. At the party king Achashverosh wanted Vashti to come show off how beautiful she was. When she looked into the mirror and saw pimples and a tail too she refused to come! Wicked haman‐boooo told Achashverosh to get rid of Vashti. The next morning when the king awoke and realized that Vashti was gone he became very sad. Haman told the king to make a contest and choose the most beautiful girl to become the new queen. Hadassa , who was a cousin of Mordechai was hiding in the house, she didn’t want Achashverosh to find her. But the guards came to get her:"Don’t tell the king that your are Jewish and now we will change your name from Hadassa to Esther. When the king saw Esther he chose her to be the new queen. Letter Samach Samech has a big smiley face and he says sa sa sa. Thanks to Tova for the super saemch words. The sabone (soap) smelled so good! It inspired us to paint with colored sabone. We loved the siddur ,especially because the chazan of our class gets to daven with a siddur every day. The sus (horse) was so cute and tiny. We made a big sus that we will be using later on in our Purim story. The color of this week was segole (purple), we used segole at almost every center, what fun! Our jelly in the pretend hamantash was segole, our samachs were covered in segole stickers, the megilla paper towel rolls were segole. Even our king Achashverosh has a segole costume.
