She gave to the Church of Thurcaston a silver flagon and plate for the use of the Holy Communion. The weight of the silver flagon is 39 oz and 2 pennyweight. The weight of the plate is 15 oz 11 pennyweight. Each of them has upon it one and the same inscription word for word as follows: Thurcaston To God and His Church this is humbly dedicated by Mrs Helen Hill, wife of Ric Hill, Rector May 22nd, 1712 When God first sent me, Rich. Hill to be Rector of this Church there was in it an old small thin silver cup which was much worn and had in the mouth of it several slits. It had on it no inscription nore date. And it is my earnest request to every one of my successors that they will be careful to choose such a man to be Master of my School as they know to be also fit to be Parish Clerk and that they will then be pleased to put him into both Offices of Schoolmaster and Clerk.
