Ingredients
• 500g lean Quality Mark beef
mince
• 1 Tbsp canola or sunflower oil
for frying
• 1 small onion, finely chopped
• 1 clove garlic, crushed
• ¼ cup salt-reduced tomato
paste
• 400g can tomatoes
• ½ cup salt-reduced beef
stock
• 1 tsp sugar
• 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
• 250g pkt instant lasagne
sheets
• 1 cup reduced or low fatgrated cheese (such as
Edam)
For the white sauce
• 2 Tbsp margarine
• 2 Tbsp plain flour
• 1 cup low-fat milk
Method
1. Pre-heat the oven to 180ºC.
Brown the mince and set
aside. Cook the onion and
garlic, return mince and add
the tomato paste, tomatoes,
stock, sugar and mixed herbs.
Bring to the boil, reduce heat
and simmer for 20 minutes.
2. To make the white sauce,
melt the margarine, add the

the milk in small amounts and
stir continually until the sauce
boils and thickens. Season to
taste.
3. Alternate layers of meat
sauce with the lasagne
sheets and half the white
sauce in a greased lasagne
dish, finishing with a layer of
white sauce on top. Sprinkle
with the grated cheese.
4. Bake lasagne uncovered
for about 30 minutes or until
thoroughly hot. Serve with a
fresh salad.
