NAMASTE YOGA
For ages 13 & older. Want to develop a balance of strength and flexibility? Hatha
Yoga (Ha meaning SUN, Tha meaning MOON) refers to the balance of actions
and reception – uniting the Mind/Body/Breath through classic Indian asanas

ZUMBA TONING
For ages 16 & older. A total workout, combining elements of fitness; cardio
muscle conditioning, balance, flexibility & boosted energy. A mixture of low
intensity and high intensity moves offer a calorie burning dance fitness party.
Move to the beat of fabulous rhythms. Bring 2 or 3 pound weights (more than
5 not recommended). Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:15-7:15 pm, Achilles (after

KARATE
Ages 4+. Learn the Shorinji Ryu style Japanese Karate. This
provides the opportunity to increase balance, strength, selfdiscipline, and self-confidence. Kata forms are traditional

For ages 6-9. Nature Explorers Camp is designed to get children
excited about Beaverdam Park & the Outdoors. Activities
like exploring, fishing, crafting discovering critters & having

SPECIAL EVENTS
Wow! The 2017 schedule includes NINE Concerts! You won’t want to miss
any of these Free Concerts, held on the lawn of the Colonial Court House or
the Lawn of County Office Building Two (6489 Main Street). Bring a chair
or blanket & the whole family! Picnics are welcome too.
Concerts begin on May 17 at 6 pm with GOOD SHOT JUDY. This piano,
upright bass & drum quartet specializing in vocal jazz standards is a crowd
pleaser!
On June 7 at 7 pm the COURTHOUSE COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA
will perform. This group was organized as a platform for local musicians
of all ages to promote music appreciation in our community. Their love of
music shows, you are in for a treat!
The BROADway BABES will join us on June 21 at 6pm to share the hits
of Broadway. Sing along with these exciting ladies as they sing tunes that
we all know & love.
On July 26 at 6 pm “THOSE GUYS” will perform their favorite tunes
from performers like Jimmy Buffett & the Avett Brothers. Be ready for fun!
LANA PUCKETT & KIM PERSON, award winning singer/songwriters
will join us on August 9 at 6pm. They are famous for their heartfelt vocals.
You will love it.
Two guys that love to sing, TOBY & LARRY, will join us on August 23
at 6 pm. Clear your throat, you will be singing along with them as they
perform your favorites.
The JNM DUO, with acoustic guitar and bass, play a wide variety of
radio pop, rock & country from the last 5 decades. September 6 at 6 pm.
Something for everyone.
Father/daughter “SOMETHING DIFFERENT” will perform on
September 27 at 6pm. Pair Ashley’s sweet vocals with Brad’s awesome
keyboards & you get an excellent concert. The old standards to Adele, don’t

BEAVERDAM PARK has something for everyone with its 635-acre
lake & acres of natural splendor. Beaverdam is open 7 days/week & is
located in the central part of the county. The Park’s main entrance is
located at 8687 Roaring Springs Rd, Rt. 616. The second entrance is
located on Fary’s Mill Rd, Rt. 606.

2017 BIG BASH OPEN BASS TOURNAMENTS
Five open tournaments are held throughout the year for fisherman to
accumulate points towards a final closed Big Bash October Classic
Tournament. The top 20 teams then compete to determine Beaverdam
Park’s top fisherman of the season. The entry fee/tournament is
$45/boat for annual pass holders & $50/boat for non-pass holders.
Remaining Tournament Dates are 5/20, 6/17, 9/16 & Classic 10/21.

For ages 5-14. The Department of Game & Inland Fisheries & Beaverdam
Park are sponsoring a free day of fishing for children. Register online

participants. No fresh water fishing licenses are required statewide
during the first weekend in June. A Conservation Police Officer provides
bait & lunch to registered participants. A limited number of rental
poles are available. Parents must stay with children.

Woodville Park is growing everyday with the help of the generous citizens
of Gloucester County. Woodville Park is approximately 100 acres in size
& is located in the central part of the county off of Bray’s Point Road.
This beautiful nature park contains both wetlands & woodlands, athletic
fields & reflective gardens, walking paths & trails. The construction
of the park has been made possible by the generosity of individuals &
businesses donations. Volunteers are always needed. If you would like

focus for 2017 is to raise money for a destination playground at the

BONFIRE & DRUM CIRCLE
ADOPT A GARDEN AT WOODVILLE PARK
Do you love to be outside in nature? Do you love to get your hands dirty?
We need your help! We are looking for gardeners to come & help maintain
areas of the park’s gardens. It would require weed pulling, trimming
& mulching for a 1 year commitment. You can sign up with your office,
bowling club or fellow neighbors. It would be an area to call your own

ABINGDON PARK PROGRAM:
DOGGIE FUN
CANOE JAM - JULY 8
Beaverdam will again be the site of the competitive canoe & kayak
races that make up the Canoe Jam. Long-4 miles & short-2 miles
races are open to one & two person canoes & kayaks. Additional
‘fun’ races. An awards ceremony will follow the 11 AM Four Person

Early Registration is $15 by July 1, $20 July 2-8, Beaverdam
Park, registration 8a m, races 9am-Noon, Saturday.
Join us at Abingdon Park for a Doggie fun day. Let your furry friend run free
in an enclosed area. Play games, throw balls, doggie obstacles & watch
your dog interact with his furry friends. Donations will be accepted to go
towards Gloucester County’s first Dog Park. All dogs must be up to date
with shots.

FAMILY YOGA
For the whole family. A complete Yoga Experience. Improve or maintain your
flexibility, strength, balance & lung capacity. Wear comfy, loose clothes,

NORFOLK BOTANICAL GARDENS
We will hop on the tram tour to see the beauty of the Summer Gardens
and the Bristow Butterfly Garden, a great place to learn more about
attracting butterflies. Some of the other gardens to visit are the
Kaufman Hydrangea Garden, the Potager Kitchen Garden, Hummingbird
Garden and Statuary Vista. Lunch on your own.

Stephen Strasburg to name a few are looking like they may be on the

THE ORIGINAL RHONDELS at Port Warwick
Like our Concerts on the Green events, these free concerts on the lawn
of Port Warwick are a local favorite! Excellent music and a beautiful
setting. We will see a Virginia Favorite, the Original Rhondels! To see the

on the bus for them! And we have a wagon to pull them along, no carrying!
