On Windows 7/Vista, click on the Windows flag start
button in the bottom left-hand corner of the desktop.
Click the Control Panel on the right-hand side of the
Start Menu.
On Windows 8, hover over the Start Menu, right click and
select Control Panel.
Click Network and Internet.
Click Network and Sharing Centre.
Double click on the local area connection icon (or Wireless
Network connection for Wi-Fi connections).
Click the properties button.
Scroll down to IPV4 (Internet Protocol Version 4) and
highlight it, so it becomes blue, then click the properties
button below the tick box.
Once you have clicked the properties button, you will be
taken to another screen.
Make sure you tick Obtain an IP address automatically and
Obtain DNS server address automatically.

Please click the Apple Sign in the top left corner of your
screen.
Select System Preferences.
Click on Network.
Make sure the appropriate connection is selected on the
left hand menu. For wired connection choose Ethernet
and for Wireless select Airport or Wi-Fi.
Select configure IPv4 to Using DHCP
Click Apply to save the settings.
2/ Clear the cache

On Windows 7/Vista, click on the Start Menu and then click
on Control Panel.
On Windows 8, hover over the Start Menu, right click and
select Control Panel.
Then click on Network and Internet Connections.
Then click on Internet Options.
Click Delete under the Browsing History.
This should open up a window.

4/ Turn off Window’s firewall
Open the Safari web browser.
Click on the Safari tab at the top left of the page.
Then click Empty Cache.
To finish the process click Empty.
3/ Check your homepage is set

select Control Panel.
Then click on Network and Internet.
Then click on Internet Options.

Depending on your view of Control Panel you will either
need to click on System and Security or Windows
Firewall. Then in the top left-hand corner select the option
Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended).

Click onto the General tab.
The homepage saved will be shown in the rectangle box
next to Home Page.
On Windows 7/Vista, click on the Start Menu and then click
on Control Panel.
On Windows 8, hover over the Start Menu, right click and
select Control Panel.
Click Network and Internet.
Click Network and Sharing Centre.
Double click on the local area connection icon
Click the Details button.
Make a note of your IPv4 address and your computers
physical address and DNS addresses (x2).

You will see your IPv4 IP address listed (please make a note
of this number).
Click advanced in the bottom right-hand corner of the
screen.
Then select Ethernet from the menu at the top of the page.
On this tab you will see your physical address labelled as
Ethernet ID (please make a note of this number).

Already registered?
If you have already registered through our pre-arrival registration service, simply enter the
Username and Password that you have previously created in the log-in box and ‘Sign In’.

Wi-Fi:
If after 2 attempts your payment has failed, please contact the Service Desk using the number provided
on the front of this leaflet.
1/ Where Wi-Fi is available you will be able
to connect to it by searching for local
Wi-Fi networks. Check for available Wi-Fi
networks on your computer and select
‘studentcom’.
2/ You must then open your Internet
browser.
Wired:
1/ For wired connections, plug one end of your ethernet cable into the socket on the wall and plug the other into
the ethernet adaptor on your PC. When the cable is securely fitted it will ‘click’ into place.

Confirmation
2/ A welcome screen should appear on your screen. Click on the ‘Not Registered?’ button.
1/ If registration has been successful,
confirmation will be displayed on
your screen.

confirming your log-in details.
Please click on the link provided in the email within one week of receiving it.
Choose Your Broadband and other
StudentCom Services
1/ Select your preferred broadband package and add it to your
shopping basket by clicking on ‘Add to basket’.
To see what other StudentCom products and services are
available at your accommodation click on the different tabs.
2/ Your selected products will appear in your shopping basket on the
right hand side of the page.
3/ If you wish to make any changes, click on the bin icon within your
shopping basket. If you are happy that everything is correct, click on
the ‘Proceed’ button.
If you have a voucher code, once you have added your products to
the basket, enter the code into the space provided and select ‘Redeem voucher’.

Create an Account
1/ Complete the form with the required fields. Fields
marked with an * are mandatory.
2/ It is important that you choose a Username and
Password that is memorable to you to enable you
to access the Internet on a daily basis and manage
your account.
3/ If no payment is required, you must accept our
Terms and Conditions.
3/ You should now be connected to the Internet and will be able to browse away.
Visit the StudentCom portal where you can find daily student news, articles and exclusive deals.
Why do you need to log in regularly?
Once you have completed your initial registration on the StudentCom portal, you may be asked to log
in if you have been disconnected from the Internet for a period of time. The reason we ask you to do
this is to keep your account secure and ensure that no-one else is benefitting from the services that you
have paid for without your knowledge.
