You will be given an effort grade (E, G, I, U) for this task.

some extra research to make sure you have remembered the facts correctly.

Task 3
For Task 3 you will be marked with an effort grade. You may do this task as a group project
if you wish but you must let your teacher know who is in your group together. Each member
of your group must also play a role which you decide in the task such as organiser or
checker.
Your Task is to build or design on paper a castle based on what you have learnt in lesson and
your own research if you wish. (The following websites may be useful).

You must design your castle using the shopping list below. Your budget is 150 shillings.
Make a list of items you would like your castle to have and how much you have spent. You
do not have to use all your budget.

You are a Norman baron who has been given some land by King
William. Your castle needs to be strong, in case rebels or a rival baron
attacks you. You also want it to be comfortable, you are a very important
person and will be living there. You never know when the king will visit
you! However you only have a limited amount of money so you must
choose wisely what you spend it on…

A Monk’s Day
 Imagine that you are a monk (or you can be a nun if you prefer!) and it is your first
day in the monastery (or convent, if you are a nun).
 Look again at all the things a monk might do in one day (on the next page). Write a
diary entry for one day, explaining all the things that you have done – try to include
as much detail as you can, such as what food you ate, the jobs you did and how you
feel about being in the monastery.
