From time to time we hear of companies that give private donations to Planned
Parenthood and we become frustrated. And there’s good reason: Planned Parenthood
is America’s leading abortion provider.
In 2010, the abortion giant performed 325,445 abortions (according to its own records)
and 1,462,726 acts of possible abortion by providing “emergency contraception” (also
known as the Morning After Pill).
But the fact is, Planned Parenthood’s private donations only totaled $223.8 million in its
most recent report (2010).
Our tax dollars however, provided an additional
$487.4 million. That’s $1.47 from each citizen, whether we like it or not!
To fight this, we can elect new representation. We’re seeing many states pull funding as
a result. That’s good news. Yet we can do something much more immediate and much
more powerful: We can fund those entities which offer the choice of life and support that
choice with practical assistance.
That’s us! At Pregnancy Resources of Doraville, we reach out to those facing
unplanned pregnancies with both hope and positive support. For instance, we provide
free pregnancy tests, a store called The Stork’s Basket, prenatal and parenting classes,
in the not too distant future a Fatherhood Initiative, and most of all friendship and
positive role models. We can react to Planned Parenthood’s bilking of our tax dollars
with anger, sure. Yet we can also respond in a positive way that saves lives, promotes a
culture of life, and brings hope to the hundreds who come in our door.
What would happen if each of us decided to give a gift to PROD ten times our
government-mandated “contribution” of $1.47? This newsletter reaches 339 homes.
If each home has an average family of four, gifts of $14.70 per person would amount to
$58.80 per home. And 339 homes would allow us to provide $19,933.20 in life-affirming
support to those who come in our door.
I think that would send quite a message, don’t you?
“Even so it is not the
will of your Father
which is in heaven, that
one of these little ones
should perish.”
Matt. 18:14
More important, PROD would become the first choice for more women—and men—in
our area facing unplanned pregnancies. This means fewer abortions, more lives saved.
As for Planned Parenthood, it hastens the day when the abortion giant will become—for
all of its current funding—irrelevant. Together, let’s keep praying and working so as to
look forward to that day.

strong feelings about the value and
special purpose that God has for each child that is conceived. These
little lives, that are sometimes referred to as “accidents” or “mistakes,”
have not caught God unaware. On the contrary, it is He who has knit
them together in their mothers’ wombs. Concern for the lives of these
unborn children is what initially led me to volunteer at PROD.
However, after having served for over a year, I have to say, it may be
concern for the mothers that keeps me here. It breaks my heart to
witness firsthand the lies that women have bought into and the
destruction that these lies have brought into their lives. Many of them
face dark times and difficult obstacles, sometimes due to
circumstances beyond their control and sometimes as the result of
their own choices. We have an amazing opportunity to extend hope to
these women. Jesus wants to redeem not only the lives of the babies,
but the lives of their mothers as well. To share with women that they
can make better choices, walk in truth, and live in ‘Thee’ light is truly a
blessing.

The Fatherhood Initiative
Would you like to help raise up the next

difference in the life of a young man and soon
to be dad? We need Godly men to encourage and disciple the
men who are involved with our clients’ pregnancies through a
program we are beginning called The Fatherhood Initiative.
If you think that just because you are a man we don’t have a
place for you at PROD, think again! Come be on the ground
floor of this exciting program. Call Deborah at 678-367-3052
for information and to register your interest.
Through Our Doors
She [we’ll call her Alice] came into the center with such a frown.
Maybe it was because her mother had come with her or could it be
that she felt she was being forced to deal with something her teen
self did not want to face.
Mom was extremely talkative about all she had done to keep
“that boy” out of her daughter’s life and what lengths she had gone
to in order to convince Alice he was not right for her. The boy had
made it clear that he wanted no part of this or any other baby to rear
and finance! Mom was also adamant that if this test were positive
today, her next phone call would be to the local abortion provider
since she also felt no desire to rear another generation.
The test was positive. As the shock of this reality settled in their
minds, the room became eerily quiet. Mom and Alice were deep in
thought. The client mentor chose this “teachable moment” to share
that this child is special, if only to Jesus. He has made a plan for this
life and wouldn’t it be exciting to see what that plan entails and be a
part of making it happen!
Fast forward to February 2012 — Alice gave birth to a healthy
baby girl. Alice is enrolled in her first year of college with plans to
become a teacher. Alice’s mom is the most proud grandmother you
have ever seen. Pictures of this child are everywhere on
her phone, wallet, and a necklace. All this happy ending
because a willing volunteer shared
what Jeremiah told us centuries ago:
I [God] know the plans I have for
you, plans for good and not evil,
plans to give you a future and a hope.
