Sourcing products with confidence
As a trader or retailer sourcing and selling products internationally you want to
make sure you comply with the relevant regulations in all markets and that you
supply products which are not only safe but also of the intended quality and deliver
the required performance. Given today’s complex supply chains and ever shorter
times-to-market, that is quite a challenge. DEKRA can help you with this.
Our comprehensive services include initial
supplier audits, continuing surveillance,
advising on regulatory requirements as well
as a wide range of safety, quality, performance and chemical tests. We are accredited
by IEC, RVA, Hoklas, CNAS, ZLS, DAR
and EMSD so you are assured of reliable
and unbiased tests. Our technical project
managers, who are experts in a wide range
of products, can give you guidance on
which requirements apply to your products
and what kind of special requirements there
are in the countries where you market them.
DEKRA is present worldwide. This means
that you can often do business with an
office in your area, in your own language.
It also means we are relatively close to your
suppliers so we can undertake the audits,
tests and inspections more quickly and
reduce costs. Our test locations are situated
in The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Hong
Kong and China. Our inspection locations
are mostly located in China.
DEKRA services for retailers
Supplier audits
> Production process
> Quality systems (based on ISO 9001)
> Social accountability (e.g. based on
SA 8000)
> Environmental impact
Technical Construction File (TCF):
At DEKRA we can help you to create
complete Technical Files. These files provide
the evidence that the design of products is in
accordance with the relevant requirements.
They may include a:
> LVD report
> EMC report
> RoHS report
> ErP report
> M D report
> Photobiological Safety report
Partial testing
For a relatively small investment, you get
a snapshot of the overall safety of your
products. If your products have not been
tested, their quality and/or safety remain
uncertain and, even if they have been
tested, you need to verify that products
correspond to the test reports. We can
carry out cost-efficient, quick verification
of critical components to check whether
this is in fact the case. Together with
you we decide how deep the testing
should go (whether on-site or in-house).
Our partial testing services include:
> Partial Type Testing.
> Construction Check: verification of
critical components, opening of the
product and checking its construction.
> Basis Safety Test: a construction check
plus limited electrical tests to see if
the results are the same as in the test
reports. After a BST an Attestation of
Conformity may be issued if all criteria
of the BST are met.
Full testing
If you need a full LVD report (TRF) or
CB report, our labs can test your products
according to the relevant EN/IEC standard.
This is, of course, also the case for other
Directives.
Inspections
> Inline inspection: checking production
lines to determine whether the right
materials have been used and quality
is monitored during production
> DUPro inspections: these are carried
out when 10-15% of the goods are
manufactured.
> Final random inspection: can begin
only after production has been
completed and all goods are ready
and packed for shipment.
> Pre-shipment inspection: batch
certification (KEMA KEUR, GS)
requires a pre-shipment inspection.
> Loading supervision: a DEKRA
representative will closely monitor
the loading process, verify product
quantity, and ensure proper handling
of the cargo. Upon completion, the
container(s) will be sealed with DEKRA
tape as proof of compliance. This
service significantly reduces the risks
associated with importing cargo.
> On-site checking: the precise checks
selected can vary, depending on a
product’s nature and function. The
following examinations, however, can
be performed on-site during production
and final random inspections:
> Bar code check
> Earth continuity check
> Hi-pot check
> Power consumption check
> Power on check
> Rub check by water
> Tape check using 3M tape
> Transportation Drop Check

We offer certification marks such as KEMA-KEUR, GS and DEKRA SEAL which
distinguish your products from those sold by the competition.
Putting the KEMA-KEUR quality mark on your products demonstrates
that your products and production location are under regular surveillance by DEKRA. Rather than just performing a one-time test, we
continuously monitor conformity.
Po w e r e d b y
The GS symbol ensures that a product does not endanger the health
and safety of the user under normal conditions of use or reasonably
foreseeable misuse thereof. DEKRA offers the GS symbol for many
electrical and mechanical commodities.
Present the advantageous characteristics of your products with the
help of an independent test carried out by DEKRA experts. The
DEKRA seal documents quality and safety. It creates confidence
and a point of orientation for the trade and end consumer alike.
Proactive
Our experts actively participate in standards committees and are therefore fully aware
of future developments. Decades of experience in this field means that we are aware
of changes in markets and can therefore offer customers the best possible response.
We also inform our customers proactively about new and revised standards which
may affect their products, as well as developments in testing.
DEKRA Certification Group is a full-service certification organisation with a history
going back over eighty years. Our numerous subsidiaries and global associates have
expertise in management systems, performance testing, electrical safety, medical
