Welcome to Term 4!
It is great to see the sun shining! With the warmer days
coming please ensure your children come prepared with
sunhats and a change of clothes, as our educators are
excited about providing more opportunities for water
play and fun outside. It would be appreciated if your
children could arrive with sunblock on before they start
their day, educators will re-apply throughout the day as
needed. We have some fun group outings planned this
term, look out for the flyers. We are always looking for
fun, new learning experiences to attend as a group. If
you come across an outing that you think the children
would enjoy please email them through.

Programme Review
Playgroup
Our playgroup has been a great success. The children have loved the arts, crafts, puzzles,
playdough, messy play, being outside on the swings, slides, fort, sandpit, play house and
exploring the teared garden. We now have this venue every Tuesday morning including
the school holidays. Come along and join in on the FUN! All parents welcome to attend
with their children even if they are not enroled on a Tuesday.
In July we had a great time exploring Willowbank and getting friendly with the animals.
The children loved the wallabys, horses, pigs, birds, goats, monkeys, eels and deer. We
were even lucky enough to see baby lambs only a few hours old!
In July we also had our family Fish and Chip night. This was a fun get together for our
families to meet each other and the children to have a fun night out too! Thanks for
coming, we will definitely do it again in the New Year.
As part of our Nature Walks we have been enjoying exploring Travis Wetlands from a
number of different entrances and now we have made a start on Styx Mill Reserve. It has
been exciting seeing the wild life that live in the area and explore some our our beautiful,
natural community environments. We have seen Canadian Geese, Black Swans, Pukeko
and an abundance of Ducks. The Children have loved walking the tracks, listening for the
different sounds and exploring together.
In August we went on a group outing to New Brighton Library to attend Storytimes for NZ
Book Month. We had a wonderful time despite the rain, it was pouring! We had planned to
take the bus for some extra excitement but due to the weather the bus was cancelled and
we met at the library. The children loved listening, dancing, participating in action songs,
and listening to stories about our natural world under the sea. There were lots of great
puppets, board stories, books and songs about creatures that live in the sea.
Our latest outing was a great success to Harewood Firestation, we all had rides in the fire
engine, had the opportunity to hold the fire hose, listened to the sirens, tried on fire fighter
boots and explored the different parts of the truck! The children had a wonderful time and
we have already had some great feedback from the educators and parents who were able
to attend.
Roll on Summer!
