Friday18th November 2016 No 10 Chandag Junior School Mr Tim Dunning, Headteacher www.chandag-jun.bathnes.sch.uk Newsletter for children, parents & families Anti-Bullying Week & Children In Need: All children in the school have taken part in lessons thinking about the theme which underpins the national Anti-Bullying Week – The Power for Good. Each Pod has created a display on boards around the school illustrating one of the main focal points from the lessons over the week with Pod 6 focussing additionally on e-Safety. http://www.antibullyingalliance.org.uk/anti-bullyingweek/power-for-good-award/ http://www.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/anti-bullying-week/info-for-parents-and-carers/ PLEASE NOTE: Assembly for parents, children and staff… As a result of the absences we are experiencing at the moment, we have postponed the assembly (due to take place on Monday 21st) until Wednesday 30th at 2:30pm. Could you consider arranging to arrive at school a little earlier on the Wednesday for collection and joining the children from 2.30-3.05? We will share and celebrate the children’s work produced on the Power for Good, and give your children the chance to show you the displays in school that celebrate that learning. So please join us if you can; the children would be delighted to see you. Thank you to all the children who supported this wonderful charity by donating today. The children all looked super-spotty and couldn’t wait to tell us about their dotty clothing! How many mums found their scarves missing this morning? You all made a great effort; thank you again. We raised £170.00! Water Bottles: We have asked all children to take home their water bottles today in order to wash them, and return them cleaned for Monday, as part of our efforts to control the spread of the current sickness bug. POD 3 - Flu Immunisation Reminder: On Monday 21st the children who have consented will have the Flu Immunisation on Monday morning. Are you collecting your children from after school clubs? We know the children enjoy the variety of clubs we offer and parents are keen to sign their children up, and we often have a waiting list too. We must however ask all parents to arrive at the school on time to collect their children from the club. Disappointingly, we have had too many occasions already this term where children have not been collected in a timely way by a small number of families, and staff have needed to contact parents to arrange collection and wait after the school office closes with those children to ensure collection. In future we will issue one warning only and if late collection is repeated we will inform you that your child will not be able to continue taking part in the club. This would be a regrettable but necessary step, and so we ask for your cooperation to ensure your children continue to enjoy the sessions we run. Coats for break/lunch times: We would like to remind parents/carers to ensure that all children have a coat and/or waterproof jacket to wear during break/lunch times. It is always beneficial to the children to get some fresh air and change of environment during the day so even in light drizzle we will be sending the children out to play; therefore a shower/waterproof coat is essential. Thank you for your support in this matter. Older siblings collecting Junior children at 3.15 on Fridays If you have made arrangements for your older children to collect their siblings from the Junior School on Friday, please ensure the older siblings wait in the playground near the door to the appropriate year group room, and not come to the main office.
