Abstract
Betw een id iom s and free phrases there is su pposed to be a part of vocabu lary, w hich is called
lexical collocations. Collocations and id iom s belong to w hat is called semantic phrasemes
(Mel uk 1998:30). Pu rpose of this stu d y is to d efine and d escribe lexical collocations in relation
to id iom s and to establish featu res of d istinction betw een these tw o phraseological sets.
Collocations and idioms are investigated in the V + NP structure.
