Parishioners can request that the Sanctuary Candle in
the church be lit “In memory of” or “For the
intentions of” a loved one. An acknowledgment of
this will be printed in that week’s bulletin. The
Sanctuary Lamp is the 7 day candle next to the
Tabernacle which signifies that the Real Presence of
Christ is within. The donation is $15. Please stop in

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Our theme this year is…
VBS will be
held at St. Leo
the Great Parish
Monday, July 11th—Friday, July 15th
From 9:00AM – 12 Noon
VBS is for children entering grades K-5.
The cost of the program is $25 per child.
Students in Middle and High School are needed
as volunteers and attend for free.
This fulfills service hour requirements for students
in the Confirmation program.

PRE-SCHOOL AIDE
Little Learners Academy is in search of a
responsible, reliable, energetic preschool aide for our
after school program. Candidate will be responsible
for planning and implementing activities. Must have
the ability to think creatively, make good decisions
and communicate effectively with others. Must have
experience in a child care setting and be available
M-F between the hours of 2-6pm. CDA or 9 credit
hours in early childhood education strongly
preferred. CPR/First Aid certification a plus. Please

May is the month when by tradition we
honor Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
At St. Leo the Great Church we will have a
special ceremony to pay tribute to Mary
on Sunday, May 22nd during the 9:30AM
Mass. Those who r eceived their Fir st
Eucharist this year and all of the children of our
parish are invited to take part in the procession and
ceremonies this day.
All parishioners are encouraged to join us in
honoring our Heavenly Mother on May 22nd.
THE SPIRITUAL WORKS OF MERCY
Just as Jesus attended to the spiritual well-being of
those he ministered to, these Spiritual Works of
Mercy guide us to “help our neighbor in their
spiritual needs.
Do not be bitter about wrongs done against you.
Place your hope in God so that you can endure the
troubles of this world and face them with a
compassionate spirit.
 Frustrated with someone? Step away from the
situation, take a few deep breaths, pray the Our
Father, asking God for patience.
SEEKING A CHURCH ANNULMENT
An annulment writing workshop is scheduled for
Tuesday, June 14th, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the UB
North Newman Center, 495 Skinner sville Rd,
Amherst. The session will include all the
information you need on annulments, information on
the recent changes, and how to start writing your
history.
Registration will take place at 6:45 pm and there is a
$5.00 registration fee, payable that night, to cover
the cost of materials. To ensure we have enough

Youth Mission Trip 2016
Monday, July 25th-Friday, July 29th
High School students (those entering 9th grade through current 12th graders) are invited to
volunteer as we serve those in need in the Cleveland, Ohio area.
We will be staying at the guest house of St. Patrick Church in Cleveland, Ohio. and serving with local
Catholic and community agencies in the West Cleveland area. There is a $70 participation fee (which
covers about half of the trip cost, St. Leo’s will cover the rest). Registration forms are due July 6th.

EAGLE SCOUT AWARD
On Saturday April 30th, Troop 431 celebrated 2 new
Eagle Scouts, Peter
Hector and Kenny
Meshlovitz. Peter 's
Eagle project was
cleanup and repainting
the court at Eggertsville
Community
Park. Kenny's project
was building a small crèche for the Nativity scene
outside the parish office, and repairs on the large
crèche.
HELP STILL NEEDED
We are in need of Eucharistic ministers to take
Communion to residents at Weinberg Campus. This
is one Wednesday a month for approximately one
hour. To participate in this ministry or if you have
any questions please call Beth Blarr at 694-8859.
HEARTS AND HANDS’
Hearts and Hands’ Amherst Volunteer
Coordinator Heidi Lefebvre is urgently
in need of volunteers to perform basic
yardwork for our Amherst care
receivers. Several of these
assignments are one-time spring
cleanups. Volunteers are required to take part in a
brief training session before receiving any
assignments. Volunteers choose the time(s) and
date(s) they wish to serve. To find out more about
becoming a Hearts and Hands volunteer, or if you
are already volunteer for Hearts and Hands in other
ways, and would be willing to help with these
yardwork assignments, contact Heidi at (716) 4068311, extension 13. Hearts and Hands is a nonprofit
organization which provides transportation and
in-home support to older and physically-challenged
