COURSE SELECTION FOR 2017-2018: On February 6 and 7 coun-
celebrated on Thursday, February 2 at 8:50 a.m. Students are to wear
their dress uniform. Parents are welcome to attend and share in the celebration of the gift of Catholic Education.
CIRCLES OF CARE CURRICULUM : Each year, as directed by
the Diocese, we include “Circles of Care” curriculum on bullying and
child protection in our theology classes. The Circles of Care lessons will
be taught during Catholic Schools Week. Each grade level’s curriculum
focuses on a different area of child protection from internet safety to appropriate boundaries in dating relationships. This curriculum complements the chastity formation taught all four years and the “Theology of
the Body” curriculum taught during the 4th quarter of the junior year.
The diobrocyp.org website contains all the lessons taught in the Circles of
Care curriculum. Every student received an opt-out form for parents who
did not want their child to participate in the “Circles of Care” curriculum.
If you have questions about any part of our theology curriculum, please
contact Mrs. Robin Haile at [email protected]
DIOCESAN YOUTH CONFERENCE: The Diocesan Youth Conference, on Saturday, February 18 at the Catholic Life is such an awesome
day for youth from around the diocese to come together and celebrate
faith! There will be amazing skits and music all day. There will be workshops to go to which will include "Stump the Seminarians" where you can
ask them questions about the faith. Cooper Ray will be providing the music! At the end of the day, teens will attend mass, adoration, and confession. Several St. Michael students are helping to plan this event as members of the Diocesan Youth Board.

classes electronically using their activated PlusPortals student account. Course
registration will open on the afternoon of Monday, February 6 and remain open
through Friday, February 10.
Completed course selection sheets are to be signed by both the student and
his/her parent/guardian prior to completing online registration and then
returned to their grade level counselor by Friday, February 10. No course
schedule changes will be considered until April 29 unless there is a discrepancy as determined by the counselor. At that time, students may meet with
school counselors if they still have concerns regarding their 2017-2018 class
schedules. Any requests for schedule changes must be placed in writing by the
parent(s) and submitted to the appropriate grade level counselor during the
period of May 1-May 24. All schedule change fees will be waived during this
period. After May 24, all written requests for schedule changes must be accompanied by a check for $25.00 made out to St. Michael the Archangel High
School.
Please note: The scheduling requests submitted are considered a commitment on the part of the students and their parents for enrollment in the

(LOSFA). This initiative provides invaluable assistance to both traditional
and nontraditional students and their parents in understanding the financial
aid application process and will provide line-by-line assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. Free oneon-one assistance from financial aid professionals will be available at sites
statewide. College Goal Sunday is open to all college-bound students and
take place Sunday, February 12, 2017, 1:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m., at various locations. Please visit www.osfa.la.gov/collegegoalsunday for more information and to register for this event. The FAFSA is the ONLY application
for TOPS.
FINALIZING COLLEGE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Early in the second semester for seniors is a good time to finalize any documentation necessary for a student’s college admission requirements such as
sending immunization records, completing housing and orientation registration, or sending in test scores. Please make sure your senior has referred
to his/her college admission checklist per the college institution to complete these requirements.
REMINDER TO FILE THE FAFSA: Parents, in order for your
senior to receive a possible TOPS scholarship, please assist your child in
completing the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and
the only application for TOPS. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov to begin. The
deadline for TOPS eligibility is July 1. Visit www.osfa.la.gov for TOPS
eligibility criteria.
REQUESTS FOR COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE LETTERS: In
order to assist in college preparation and planning, it is critical that seniors
and their parents provide Mrs. Boudreaux, with copies of all letters of
acceptance and any scholarship and financial aid awards from colleges
and universities, whether or not the senior will eventually attend that
particular school. Please send copies of these documents via email to
[email protected] or by fax or in per son. The names of the
colleges and universities to which the senior has been accepted will be
published in the Graduation Program, while a list of the scholarships which
were offered to the student will appear in the Baccalaureate Mass & Senior
Honors Convocation Program. The only way we may publish this information is if parents or students share this information with us.

Spring Invitational Program will be held March 29-31, 2017. The LSU
Spring Invitational provides testing sessions to earn college credit, orientation programs, priority scheduling, academic advising, and social activities

We are just under $1 million away from completing this campaign. If you have not made your commitment to the Capital
Campaign, please make it a priority to support this vital campaign. Together, with your support, the St. Michael family can
advance and sustain our commitment to quality, Catholic education in Baton Rouge.

out the attached commitment form.
Warrior Fund for Excellence
To date we have received just over $28,000 dollars in contributions to the Warrior Fund for Excellence. This annual campaign is separate from the capital campaign and seeks to raise funds to purchase technology enhancements, fund scholarship programs, grow and develop the St. Michael foundation, and address other needs. Our goal is 100% participation
among all giving groups: parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends. All gifts are appreciated.
Why Should I Give?
Tuition payments and related fees provide approximately 81% of the schools operating budget. The Warrior Fund for Excellence provides a significant source of revenue that helps bridge the gap between tuition income and the full cost of a St.
Michael education, including funding needed for need based and merit scholarships. The experience of learning at St. Michael High School is an intense and rewarding one. While St. Michael carefully stewards its resources, the cost of this
experience cannot be sustained by tuition alone. In the absence of a substantial endowment, your support for the Warrior
Fund for Excellence – Annual Fund plays a critical role in meeting the annual financial needs of the school and its programs.
Make Your Gift Today!!
Visit http://www.smhsbr.org/giving/ to make your donation to the Warrior Fund for Excellence. Our goal is 100% participation among all giving groups. All gifts are important no matter the size.
