Discussion
Opening prayer led by Mr. Teller
The minutes from the last MYEP meeting held on
April 23, 2013 were reviewed and discussed.
Question was raised by John Teller regarding the
purpose of MIMS and MTS meeting. The meeting was
to discuss MYEP in depth with school administrators.
Motion was made by Nolan Smogoleski and approved
by Wendell Waukau to approve last meetings

Mr. Frechette reported the following information:
Grades for all MYEP participants have been
submitted to UW-EX
MYEP summer activities occurred on the
following dates from 8am-12pm:
o June 17-21 2013
o July 15- 19 2013
o Aug 26-30 2013
Mawaceneyah cultural activities were held
on:
o June 18 & 20 2013
o July 16 & 18 2013

promotion on August 30, 2013

Mr. Frechette attended “Reclaiming Youth
International” conference in Rapid City, SD
from June 22-25 2013
Mr. Frechette and Mr. Teller met with Larry
Pan of Marquette Univ for a site visit and to
discuss DAP and YRBS survey results
OMH states MYEP is on schedule with all
programming and research needed for
program
Mr. Frechette and Mr. Stoehr, MYEP mentor,
attend the Menominee Community
Engagement group each month
MYEP staff attended “Supporting the
Engagement, Learning & Success of Students
At-Risk” webinar on July 31, 2013
MYEP staff held a “Welcome to High School”
Dinner for incoming freshman at the Casino
with MISD Superintendent and MIHS
principals
MYEP staff attended Univ of Minn’s “Frames
for Change” seminar on Sept 18, 2013.
Keynote speaker was Dr. Martin Brokenleg of
“Reclaiming Youth International”
MYEP hired Tyler Ninham as a new Tribal
Americorp worker. She will be working with
program for a year
Tutoring for MTS, MIMS, and MHS is
currently being arranged and will begin
October 1, 2013
7th and 8th grade dinner date TBA
First weekly activity for the 2013-2014 school
year will begin October 2, 2013
A date and time will be scheduled to
administer survey’s to control group
Admin Report given by Mr. Teller
MYEP is now in year 2 of grant. The year runs
from Sept 1st – Aug 30th
$290,000 is annual budget
$3,700 for Americorp worker to be shared
between YEP & STI
Approx. $50,000 carry over from yr 1
Will present spending plan during January

A motion was made by Ms. Chevalier and seconded
by Mr. Dakai to approve the current coordinator’s
report.

Ms. Stawicki reported the following information:

Requesting feedback about program data
and collective measures from Advisory Board
and MYEP staff.

A motion was made by Mr. Schwaller and seconded
by Ms. Chevalier to accept the UWEX Evaluation
Report.
Mr. Teller will email budget and by-laws to Mr.
Dakai
Mr. Wendell Waukau would like to see if MYEP
participants’ attendance has improved while in
program
Mr. Teller informs board of possible MYEP
reading club
Mr. Frechette suggested a MYEP volunteer group
Mr. Teller will include an Admin Report and add
to the agenda for next MYEP Advisory Board
meeting
