Prologue-this play aims to generate traffic awareness. The play tries to place a mirror in front of
the audience to lime light the general road behavior displayed by all of us. It pushes us to sit
back and ponder over our attitude and realize the need to exhibit responsibility for the sake of
road safety.
The drum beats and everyone enters the center stage standing in a semicircle.
Arsh – (hindi)suno suno suno.sab log suno (listen everybody listen)
Tanishq –(hindi) sunlo hamari baat (listen to what we have to say)
Suhavi – (hindi)kehte hain ham sab (we all say)
Mansi –(hindi) ek bahut pate ki baat (on a very important topic)
Arsh – (hindi)suno suno suno sab log suno (listen everybody listen)
Karan –(hindi) sunlo hamari baat (listen to what we have to say)
Megha – (hindi)kehte hain ham sab (we all say)
Jaskirat –(hindi) ek bahut pate ki baat (on a very important topic)
Varun – (hindi)rakhna hamari baat ka maan (respect what we say)
Chorus- (hindi) “sadak par karo niyamon ka samman” (respect the rules while on road)
Abhijay –(hindi) agar karte ho jeevan se pyar (if you love your life)
Chorus-(hindi) “to sadak par raho savdhan har baar” (then be alert on road everytime)
Cherry –(hindi) kyonki sabki suraksha mein hi hai apni raksha (because in everyone’s safety is
our own safety)
Chorus-(hindi) “haan sabki suraksha mein hi hai apni raksha” (yes in everyone’s safety is our
own safety)
Oshin – (hindi)aapko pta hai ki aaj hum yahan par kyon aaye hain? (do you know why we are
here today)
Jaskirat – we are here to show you a mirror
Dhriti – (hindi)aaj hum appko ek aaina dikhane aaye hain (yes we are here to show you a
mirror)
Shrey g – (hindi)akhbar to aap padhte hi honge (all of you read the newspaper everyday)
Shrey b – accidents, wrecks, bloodshed all caused by our carelessness
Anmol – (hindi)log bichhaad jate hain, parivar ujad jaate hain kyun sirf hamari laparvahi ke
karan(people get separated, families also get separated just because of our carelessness)
Arsh s – young innocent children die; children who haven’t even lived their lives why – why
does this happen?
Arsh d –(hindi) kya hum itne laparvah hain ki hamare vajah se kisi ki jaan chali jaye aur hamein
farakh bhi na pade (are we so careless that because of our carelessness someone has to lose his
life and we even don’t get effected)
Jaskirat – are we just that indifferent; do we just don’t care?
“yeah we just don’t care”
Anmol – (hindi)aaiye aapko kuchh dikhate hain (let’s show you something)
Cherry – come on let’s take you to a birthday party
“birthday party! Who’s birtyday party”
Cherry- come on lets show you
Scene 1
Setting- there is a scene of a birthday party at arun’s home. The whole room is supposed to be
beautifully decorated with balloons and happy birthday is written at one end of the wall. There
is a worried look on aarohi’s face whereas rajesh can’t stop boasting to everyone about the new
car he gifted arun. Even the c.m is present, as his son, vikram, is a close friend of arun.
Oshin & suhavi- wow this cake looks yummy . (hindi)mera man kr raha hai ki main ise abhi kha
jaun
[ i want to eat this cake now] … aunty when will we cut the cake?
Megha- at least let the birthday boy come. He has gone for a ride.
Oshin & suhavi- (hindi)kab aayega?
[when will he come?]
Varun – (hindi)are bhai!!![hey bro...] After all he has gone for a ride in his new bmw.
Everyone – bmw wow….
Cherry – my son already drives a porsche.
Megha – i don’t know what the need to buy him a bmw was?
Karan –(punjabi) o chhado bhabhi ji saada munda te 16 saal da hunda hi gaddi chalaan lag gaya
si!!!
(don’t worry. My son is driving since the age of 16.)
Megha – but i am still worried about vicky.
Jaskirat- don’t worry i am sure he would be fine.
Megha – i hope so
Mansi & dhriti – yes… vicky is so cool…
Cherry – really, is he?
Karan – by the way where did you buy the car from?
Varun –(hindi) sir aapko yaad nahin aapne hi to black se nikal vayi thi.
(sir don’ t you remember you only helped us to get it in black.)
Megha – it’s already 10 o’clock i am really worried now.
Karan – don’t worry bhabhi ji my son is with him.
Megha – that’s exactly what i am worried about.
Phone rings…………
Varun – hello who’s this what!!! An accident!!!
Megha - (hindi)haye……….. Mera beta….
(oh! My dear son…)
Karan- is my son alright? I mean are the kids alright?
Varun- the kids are alright. But my poor bmw; it’s a wreck.
Megha- you are still worried about your bmw… what about you’re son?
Cherry- i told you porche was safer.
Varun- (hindi)chalo chalte hain.
(let’s go.)
Megha- wait i am also coming with you.
Scene 2
Setting- it is a road scene an accident just took place there is fuzz everywhere mansi and dhriti
are sitting on the road and crying as a car just hit them which was driven by vicky and alok.
Mansi- (hindi) raies bbap ki bigadi auladon dekh ke nhi chala sakte. Dekho kitni lag gayi hai
hume mar jate hum abhi.
Arsh s- (hindi)theek to ho na aap? Zyada chot to nhi lagi?
(are you okay? Did you get hurt badly?)
Tanishq- (hindi)kuch nhi hua hai inhe. Aise hi faltu mein shor macha rhe hai (nothing has
happened to them; they are making a fuzz out of nothing)
Driti- (hindi)lal bti thi aur hum sadak par karne ki koshish kar rhe the itni tezi se gaadi aayi ki
laga abhi humare sr ke upar se jayegi.(it was red light and we were trying to cross the road and
a car came so fast that we thought it would go over us)
Mansi- (hindi)dekh ke nhi chala. Mar jaate hum abhi (can’t you see where you are driving. We
could die)
Tanishq- (hindi)hum to dekh kar hi gadi chala rhe the pata nhi ye bich mein kaise aa gye. Road
tumhari thodi hi hai dekh ke chala karo (we were driving carefully with full attention you were
the one who came in our path. The road isn’t yours; watch where you are walking)
Abhijay - keep quiet! First of all ou make a mistake and then you try to cover it up.
Arsh d- (hindi)haan haan! Kya hua hai yahan? (what happened here) do you even have a
licence that you are driving a car?
Arsh s- well kind of.
Abhijay- what do you mean by kind of?
Arsh d- yeah what do you mean by kind of?
Arsh s- well i was driving with the cms son so??
Arsh d- chief minister’s son!! Who is the cms son?
Tanishq- i am the cm’s son.
Arsh d- sir! He is the cm’s son; this changes everything! We can’t do anything.
Abhijay- no! This changes nothing. He is the cms son so he should be even more carefull.
Jaskirat- sir we were driving calmly in our own lane
Anmol- and suddenly this car came zooming overtook us from the wrong side and there we go
we banged right into the footpath.
Jaskirat- do something sir our dad is gonna kill us.
Abhijay- did you even see the speed limit?
Arsh d- ya the speed was 65 km/hr
Arsh s- (hindi)sir sir choddo na sir mein to dhire hi chala rha tha ye hi kh rha tha ki tez chala.
(please let us go sir; i was driving calmly he was the one exclaiming and saying to drive the car
faster0
Abhijay- you not only broke the speed limit but you also crossed a red light and you were also
driving in the wrong lane. See how many crimes you have commited in just one night.
Tanishq- all these rules that you are telling us are not for us they are for the common people.
Anmol- spoiled brats
Mansi-(hindi) besharam (shameless)
Arsh d-(hindi) sir sir apke papa ko phone lga du?(sir! Should i call your father)
Tanishq- (hindi)lga diya hai maine phone aa hi rhe honge. (i have called him already he will be
coming soon)
Megha-(hindi) mere bete tu thik to hai na? (my son are you alright?)
Varun- (hindi)haye meri bmw it’s in a bad shape. (alas! My bmw it’s in a bad shape)
Karan- (hindi)aur inspector sahab yahan kya hua hai? (inspector. What happened here)
Shrey b- (hindi)dekh accident!! Vo bhi cm ke bête ka chal photos khinchte hai. (look an
accident!!! And that too of the cms son let’s click pictures)

Karan-(hindi) chalo chodo bache hai galti ho jati hai (let’s end the issue. Mistakes are done by
children only)
Varun- we are also at loss
Anmol and jaskirat- (hindi)aur hamari kya galti thi?(what about us, what was our mistakes)
Mansi and dreeti-(hindi) aur hum hum to sirf road par karne ki koshish kar rhe the (and we
were just trying to cross the road)
Karan-(hindi) sab chodo le de ke khatam karte hai bache hai galti ho jati hai.(let’s leave
everything, how much money do you want )
Arsh d – (hindi)mein bhi to yahi kh rha hun bache hai galti ho jati hai le de ke khatam karte hai.(i
am also saying this only they are kids who make mistakes)
Anmol- (hindi)aise kaise le de ke khatam kar de (how can we finish this by taking money) they
don’t even realise their mistake

Abhijay- do you recognize this scene? This happens everywhere may it be the roads of
panchkula in delhi in chandigarh or anywhere else in the world. Whoose fault is this is it theirs
their your or mine. It’s time that we thought about it.
Cherry- india has the second largest road network it immensely to india’s economy
Jaskirat-with bigger roads and faster cars the matters of road safety have become important
than ever
Anmol –the statistics are frightening. The deaths and destruction caused by this road rage is
alarming
Arsh s – me, you, him, her, the youth are the agents of change we can make a difference
Oshin- it is time we spread awareness about road safety.
Mansi – friends, here are a few things that we can do to follow road safety
Megha – don’t use mobile phones while driving
Varun – always wear a seat belt while driving
Karan – always wear a helmet while on a two wheelers
Shrey g – don’t drive until you get a license
Tanishq – the right age to get a license is 18 years
Arsh d – follow the traffic rules
Dhriti – don’t drink and drive
Arsh s – stop the vehicle behind the pedestrian line before the traffic signal
Shrey b – always move clockwise around the round about
Mansi – always slow down before round about
Abhijay – maximum speed limit before the roundabout is 30 km/hr
Jaskirat- lane driving is safe driving
Oshin- always overtake from right side
Cherry – left lane is for taxi and heavy vehicles
Suhavi- always give way to emergency vehicles
Anmol – always keep retrain and patience while driving
Suveer – our safety is our responsibility
