TomTod Ideas and the Canton Symphony Orchestra present “Landfill Harmonic”
Canton, OH – Oct. 18, 2016 – TomTod Ideas and the Canton Symphony Orchestra will present the awardwinning documentary “Landfill Harmonic” on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Canton Palace Theatre. Tickets are $5.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and proceeds will benefit TomTod Ideas and the Canton Symphony.
“Landfill Harmonic” follows a group of Paraguayan children and teens that form the Recycled Orchestra of
Cateura, a musical group playing instruments made completely out of trash. Favio Chávez, an environmental
engineer with a musical background, directs the orchestra. He and his friend, Nicolas, build instruments for
the children out of scavenged junk from the landfill.
“The Canton Symphony always strives to foster a love of live classical music,” Michelle Mullaly, President and
CEO of the Canton Symphony Orchestra, said. “‘Landfill Harmonic’ demonstrates what a gift music truly is – to
hear and perform!”
“We’re excited to partner with the Canton Symphony Orchestra to bring this amazing film to Canton,” said Joel
Daniel Harris, Founder and Executive Dreamer at TomTod Ideas. “Not only does it showcase the creative
abilities of young people, it demonstrates the importance of empowering youth to impact their communities,
something that aligns closely with our mission at TomTod Ideas.”
The Recycled Orchestra’s story goes viral, and the students are quickly immersed in a world much different
than their own, one of spotlights, arenas, and sold-out concert halls. When a natural disaster strikes their
hometown of Cateura, Chávez and the students must find hope and healing with the music they create.
Tickets are available at the door and online at http://bit.ly/LandfillHarmonicTix.
