Your transition process for BS 10125, the new British Standard
for Vehicle Damage Repair
The BSI Kitemark™ for Vehicle Damage Repair is currently based on
the industry specification known as PAS 125. At the end of 2014, a
new British Standard for Vehicle Damage Repair, known as BS 10125
will be published. For bodyshops who are considering, or who already
have a BSI Kitemark™, there will be a period of transition in order to
meet the new standard.
Why is PAS 125 changing?
How long will I have to transition?
At the end of 2014, a new British Standard for Vehicle Damage
Repair, known as BS 10125 will be published. This is part of the
natural journey for many specifications as they mature and develop,
and means that the standard will recognize and meet recent
changes within the industry. PAS 125 will remain current until
12 months after the publication of BS 10125, after which the BSI
Kitemark will be based on BS 10125..
We anticipate that you will have until December 2015 to transition
your certification from PAS 125 to the new BS 10125.
What does the transition period mean?
If you have already achieved a BSI Kitemark for Vehicle Damage
Repair, there will be a transition period once the new standard
has been published, during which time you can align your repair
processes to the new standard and still maintain your BSI Kitemark
certification. Our assessors will identify the gaps you may have in
order to meet the requirements of the new BS 10125, so that you
can address these.
If you are applying for a new BSI Kitemark you can choose to use
PAS 125 or the new BS 10125 standard. If you choose PAS 125, you
may require additional audits at extra cost to make sure you are
ready for the new BS 10125.
And don’t worry, during the transition process, even though we’ll be
auditing your bodyshop to PAS 125 and the new BS 10125, you won’t
incur additional costs as this will all take place during your usual
continuous assessment visit.
Take a look at the proposed transition process which helps explain
how moving from the old to the new standard will work for you.
