Layouts (1/2 day) covers the following layout types:
• Database Layout – A database layout defines the data in any relational database for use by Infogix Assure. The
data can be accessed by a standard database connection. A standard connection can be either a direct JDBC™
connection or a JNDI™ name that identifies the JDBC connection.
• XML Layout – XML is a standard way of tagging data so it can be read and interpreted by a variety of Web
browsers, software, servers, and clients, regardless of how it was created. An XML layout defines data with XML
tags delimiting groups and fields for use by Infogix Assure.
• Web Service Layout – A Web Service layout defines access to a SOAP web service operation and its returned
data. In order to build the web service layout, you will need to know the SOAP endpoint address, the operation
(method) to invoke, and be able to provide the XML text of a full SOAP envelope including the request, which
can be tailored to define either constant parameter values or runtime substitution parameters.

Data Quality Controls – With the data quality module you can verify the content of data elements entering, or
about to enter your information systems. Through the use of quality “dimensions” the data quality module will
validate the format and content of individual data elements, it will validate the context of data transactions, and it
will build historical profiles that catalog the data elements and transactions over time. (1 day)
Scan and History Controls – Scan and history control points apply validations and actions to control data already
processed at a previous control point and stored in the Assure database. They can be used to generate reports on
data of interest. (1/2 day)
Point to Point Validation – Your business application may rely upon transactions or files that must remain
unchanged through multiple “checkpoints” in a single system or process. A type of validation known as a point-topoint validation can be a valuable tool for such applications. Point-to-point validations verify that outputs of one
processing step remain unchanged for input into a subsequent step. (1/2 day)
Course Length
On-site: 2.5 days*
WebEx: 4 two-hour sessions
*Note that some of the additional modules may increase the course duration up to 3 days based on the length of the module.
Format
This course is available for on-site or WebEx instruction.

Reconciliation Controls Training – This module familiarizes participants with the concept of reconciliation within
Infogix Assure. It provides students with practice exercises that assist in the development of basic Infogix Assure
Reconciliation controls.
Translation Tables Training – Translation is the process by which something is converted from one state or form, to
another. In language, translation converts something from a foreign language into your own, or vice versa. Similarly,
in the Infogix Assure application, translation can convert similar, but not identical data from one or more sources into
a single, common structure, for use in extraction. In this course you will create two translation tables and utilize them
for data extraction.
Text Functions Training – The Infogix Assure training examples focus on inputs that contain discrete, easily
accessible data. However, the data that flows into your real business applications may not be that straightforward.
The Infogix Assure application contains “functions” that enable you to extract and isolate even the most convoluted
data. This course acquaints you with the most common functions.

Runtime Fields & Work Fields – Runtime fields acquire their values during execution of a control point. This feature
lets you alter control point rule behavior with execution time values. Work fields are optional storage fields for use
when extracting data for control points. You can use work fields to store all the fields from a layout or sublayout
as a single field. You can also use work fields to store individual values, such as extracted values, the results of
computations, and flags or indicators. (1/2 day)
Scripting and Utilities – Understanding how to develop scripting for Infogix Controls to work with an external job
scheduler is critical to optimizing your business controls. This module will cover the basics of developing scripts
to implement Infogix Assure Controls. Infogix Utilities training will provide you with examples of the database
maintenance tools you can use to manage the Infogix Assure database and Command line utilities. (1 day)
File Monitoring Training – Suppose that a critical step in your business process relies upon inputs coming in from a
variety of sources, in a variety of formats. Suppose that processing cannot proceed unless all inputs are present and
accounted for. An Infogix Assure file monitor enables you to monitor the system in anticipation of those inputs, and
to initiate additional processing after they have been received. (1/2 day)
Suspense Processing Training – Suspense processing uses a temporary holding area (suspense file) to hold data
not matched in a reconciliation execution. This suspense file is then used as input into the next processing cycle, to
check if items can be matched off from the current input source(s). Items that are matched will be removed from the
suspense file and new items not matched will be sent into the suspense file. This course will acquaint you with setting
up a Suspense Processing control. (1/2 day)
Tracking Controls & Calendar Functions Training – This module will provide you with a scenario and practice
exercises that you can use to learn the minimum basics of timeliness and latency within Tracking Controls. After an
initial setup and testing phase, processing with the Infogix Assure application is driven by schedules and calendars.
When new data comes in, you may need to determine whether or not that data meets the parameters dictated by
established calendars or schedules before you process it. The Infogix Assure application contains a series of calendar
functions that allow you to easily make that determination. (1 day)

WebEx: 4 two-hour sessions
*Note that some of the additional modules may increase the course duration up to 3 days based on the length of the
module.
