Well done to the senior rugby team who took part in the

13th August 2014 is a memorable date for
over 100 students from the ISK. This marks the
day that these young people received their
Leaving Cert results and ended their secondary
education. This year was exceptional for the
high standard achieved by our students. Over
23% of students achieved 500 points or above.
We wish each student continued success in
their next steps.
Not to be outshone, the Junior Certs results
of 2014 were very impressive with 2 students
receiving over 9As & remarkable grades were
achieved by many. Principal, Kieran Griffin
was delighted with all students’ achievements
with many surpassing their own personal
expectations. In the areas of national interest at
the moment, 100% of students were
successful at Maths. 80% of students sat
the Higher Level paper, compared to a
national figure of 56%. 41% of those that
sat Higher Level Maths achieved an A or B
grade. In Science 31 students achieved
an A grade. Many congratulations to all
students and their families.

Ice Bucket Challenge
Colm Conway, teacher at the Intermediate School, Killorglin and James O’Mahony, Deputy Principal present a cheque for
€1000 to Mr Christy Lehane, Chairman, Kerry Friends of Motor Neuron Association. The money was raised by students of
the school after they paid to watch seventeen of their teachers complete the Ice-Bucket Challenge. Students took to Twitter
to vote for the teachers they wanted to see dunked and some students donated extra-generously to win the right to pour
the buckets filled with iced water on their ‘favourite’ teachers. Principal, Kieran Griffin was delighted with the event saying
‘Students and teachers at the Intermediate School are always willing to give generously. We are extremely proud to be
associated with this wonderful cause.’ Mr Lehane thanked the pupils and teachers sincerely and expressed the gratitude of
Kerry Friends of Motor Neuron Association to have been chosen as beneficiaries of this wonderful cause, in what has been
an outstanding year for the charity.

enjoying their first day
in their new school
What a phenomenal few weeks
this has been for Sport in Kerry
& the ISK. We would like to
congratulate six ISK past pupils
(Donnacadh Walsh, Johny Buckley,
Darran O’Sullivan, Peter Crowley,
Pa Kilkenny, Brendan Kealy& Liam
Carey) who represented the county
in this year’s double All-Ireland
victory in Croke Park. It was a truly
special day when Sam Maguire
returned to the school with some
of these players. ISK Past-pupils
in Ladies Football also made an
outstanding contribution this
season also.Both Bernie Breen
& Sarah Houlihan have been
nominated for an All Star. Current
Students have been involved in a
range of competitions across all
codes. It is too early in the year to
assess their achievements so far
but “things” are progressing nicely.
The annual Marathon is a highlight
event in the school’s calendar & this
year was no exception.
