which is awarded by the
National Association of PE for
all of the clubs and support
that our PE department
offers students. The Minister

Pet-Xi In Year 11
Pet-xi is an agency that specialises in intensive courses
which help prepare students for key GSCE examinations.
This week they ran a mathematics programme with 24
pupils from year 11 selected to take part. Competition
for a place on the course was very high and the lucky
pupils were out of normal lessons for the whole week to
work solely on mathematics in preparation for their
Maths’ exams on the 26th May and the 9th June.
“The Pet-Xi course has been a huge success. The pupils
involved have taken full advantage of this fantastic
opportunity and all are confident of exceeding their
target grades. The conduct of the pupils attending the
course has been exemplary and has been commended
by the Pet-Xi team. We are all extremely proud of the
hard work the pupils have put in during the course and
throughout the year and we are excited to see the
results in the upcoming GCSE examinations.” - Mr Clark
Good Luck to all the year 11’s in their GSCE exams!

Many people believe that Shakespeare
has left no impact on their lives, however, in actual fact we quote Shakespeare multiple times a day! Common
phrases like: 'for goodness' sake',
'heart of gold', and 'love is blind', to
name a few, have all been coined by
Shakespeare himself and can be found
in the famous plays in which they appear.
Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of
Shakespeare, commemorated the
day by putting on theatre performances at the Royal Shakespeare
Company of the playwrights most
lauded scripts, which were performed by acclaimed actors including
the talents of Dame Judi Dench and
Helen Mirren. There was also a parade through the town centre which
was filled with thousands of people
sporting Shakespeare masks.

Fact Of The Week
There are more than 80 variations recorded for the spelling of Shakespeare’s
name. In the few original signatures that
have survived, Shakespeare spelt his
name “Willm Shaksp,” “William Shakspere,” ”Willm Shakspere,” and “William
Shakspeare”. There are no records of him
ever having spelt it “William Shakespeare”, as we know him today.
