The SKS-BINDING is special resin rework technique which is able to contribute 7 to production cost reduction and reliability improvement. STERN KEEPER is the latest Stern-tube Sealing System of seawater lubrication type which is superseding conventional gland packing systems. STERN KEEPER is a successful fruit of our long years experience and advanced techniques which have resolved a number of problems and inconveniences with the mechanical seal type stern-tube sealing systems in the market today. New adaptation of Seal Ring that can be used its both ends and safety Contractible Seal for emergency replacement works etc are assuring easy handling reliable performance. EASY INSTALLATION Just mount all assembly parts passing through shaft and tighten screw bolts in order of that for Casing①, Band② and Seal Ring ③.(Refer to the drawing in page 12) After piping, the installation sealing system is completed. 2. SPECIAL THRUST-LOAD HOLDING FACE ASSURES HIGHER PERFORMANCE The Rotating Seal Ring is made of the synthetic rubber developed specially for high sealing efficiency. Specially designed Thrust-load holding face placed on both end of Rotating Seal Ring keeps constant pressure on sealing face even if the shaft gives axial movement. 3. CONVENIENT SEAL RING AND SPARE ROTATING SEAL RING When the seal face is worn and water leakage increased, the function is renewed by using reverse face of the Seal Ring and replacing with the Rotating Seal Ring which mounted on the shaft as spare one. 13 SKC特長② SKC 特長② 2-2.Feature 4. SPACE SAVING Designed compact and with minimized full length, the installation space is greatly saved. 5. CONTRACTIBLE SEAL WITH SAFETY PERFORMANCE Thick rubber Seal Ring is pressed to ward the shaft by air pressure and protect seawater invading in during the replacement works of Rotating Seal Ring. (Be sure not to have it contracted while the shaft is rotating.) 6. ELECTROLYTIC CORROSION PREVENTION To minimize electrolytic corrosion insulation bush and packing etc are used. 14 SKC特長③ SKC 特長③ 2-2.Feature 7. NO WEAR ON SHAFT The shaft is never worn as there is no direct sliding portion in sealing unit against the shaft. 8. LOW MAINTENANCE COST In addition to less consumable assembly parts, the Seal Ring can be reused by re-grinding its worn surface. 9. Anti-corrosing paint is coated smoothly on the designated area of sleeve. Liquid packing is coated on the end face of stern tube boss. The seal system is set so that “T”mark comes to upright position. Confirm that there is no mistake in direction of assembly parts. Sealing face and surface of sleeve are thinly coated with oil or grease. 21 SKCチェックアイテム② SKC チェックアイテム② 2-6.Check Item Take care that no dirt or foreign matters enter into sealing system during assemble work. Confirm that there is no damage on sealing face and no step on spitted part of seal face. Confirm that there is no mistake on piping work. Confirm copper pipe is put through insulation bush and the then fixed on the hull. Confirm that the valve Aa1 is opened so that Contractible Seal is not activated. Confirm that there is no abnormal leakage. Confirm that cooling water is supplied into bearing and Seal Unit. Countermeasure Confirm pressure on gauge of pipe. Optimum volume is 0~ 0~50ℓ/day. If it exceeds this, take measure Confirmation of leakage volume. mentioned in in“4in“4-5. FAILURE AND COUNTERMEASURE”. Once a day Confirmation of Seal Ring temperature. Less than 50℃ is normal condition. When heat is raised up to the temperate nobody touches by hand, take measure mentioned in“4in“4-5. FAILURE AND COUNTERMEASURE”. 24 SKCメンテナンス② SKC メンテナンス② 2-7.Maintenance Check Frequency Check Item Once every three months Confirmation of ANTICORROSING PLUG. When scale of t part is less than 1mm(new one 10mm) replace with new one. Pressure gauge of VALVE UNIT If there are failure or damage, replace with new one. SEAL RING If there is leakage over 100ℓ/day, reregrind it. ROTATING SEAL RING If there is leakage over 100ℓ/day, replace with new one. CONTRACTIBLE SEAL If pressure goes down abnormally, repeat to operate and turn off 4 or 5 times. If pressure fall doesn’t recover, disassemble and clean it. Check Item Countermeasure Seal Unit Clean up every parts. SEAL RING Re-grind ROTATING SEAL RING Replace with new one. CONTRACTIBLE SEAL Replace with new one. O RING Replace with new one. BAND Replace with new one. WATER HOSE Replace with new one. VACCUM EJECTOR of VALVE UNIT Clean up the vacuum ejector. CAUSE CONTERMEASURE Optimum leakage volume is 0~ 0~50ℓ/day. Even if leakage is more than 500ℓ/day, instant adjustment is not necessary.
