Course Title: Novelty cake making for beginners.

Ingredients (General):

6 inch round sponge cakes, enough sponges to make a depth of 6 inches
(dummy cakes may be used for all or some of the cakes).

6 inch cake card (can be trimmed to size if necessary).

500g buttercream.

200g flower paste


2.5kg sugar paste (covapaste recommended, can be brought from
www.almondart.com or duston bakery). Paste colours vary depending on choice
of design (Birdcage, Princess Tower or Castle/Haunted Tower).
Cake drum, 10 inch diameter and 12mm deep.

Ribbon for cake drum (colour of choice).

10inch box to take cake home in.
Ingredients (Birdcage):

6 Rice Krispie Square Bars.

Paste Colours: Dusky Pink, Baby Blue, Brown and Leaf Green.

Dust Colours: Dusky Pink.

Blossom cutters (small).

Bird Cutter or you can make a model of a bird – instructions given.

Royal Icing – small quantity – This can be provided on the day for 80p.

Dusting paintbrush.

Butterfly Cutter – optional.

Ingredients (Princess Tower):

Paste Colours – Brown, Leaf Green and a colour of your choice for the tower,
e.g. pink, purple etc. You will also require a different colour for the flowers

Fairy or princess cutter or remade figures or you can make a model – Instructions
shown

Length of plastic pipe – 68mm diameter, 80mm length. This can be purchased on
the day for 50p

Bag of sweets to fill the top turret – do not bring sugar coated sweets.

Small Square Cutter (1cm)

Brick and wood embossing mats**.


Paste Colours – Black, blue

250g pre coloured black sugar paste

Soldier figure to put on cake or make a basic model – instructions shown

Length of plastic pipe – 68mm diameter, 80mm length. This can be purchased on
the day for 50p

Bag of sweets to fill the top turret – do not bring sugar coated sweets.

