Those coming from Nethersole may go down the steps at the outside of the library to access the entrance, or round the outside using the paths, but not along the terrace. • The only exit is the door at the Nethersole side. From there the stairs on the left lead to the Library and the lower end of the site, the pathway heads over towards the Junior School, or the steps go up towards Nethersole. • Year groups should only attend and queue at their set time. Sixth Formers may attend before 12.35 if they are free, but should try to attend before 12.45 in order not to have to wait until the end. • Clubs will all start at 12.35 or will be specifically timed around the scheduled lunch of pupils involved and will finish by 1.30 in order to allow pupils into “clubs lunch”. • Any pupil attending a lunchtime activity should attend lunch AFTER their club. • Activities must end in time to get pupils through lunch at the end in time for registration • There is to be no “picking up” of a sandwich to take away from the dining hall to eat at a club, and packed lunches do not take “priority”; pupils must attend at their time slot with their year group and all queue together. • The Dining Hall is the only venue where pupils may eat lunch, unless permission has been granted for packed lunches to be eaten on the meadow. Sandwich lunches and items purchased from the tuck shop must never be eaten in classrooms. 40 RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The School aims to create an environment in which all members of the School Community enjoy an equality of opportunity regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion. Every pupil is entitled to be safe and happy at School. This means that every pupil has the RIGHT to: • a supportive learning environment; • be treated with respect and as an individual; • be free from harassment, victimisation or bullying at School, on School activities and while travelling to and from School; • have their personality, gender, sexuality, culture, race, religious and political beliefs respected; • support from the School authorities to uphold these rights. In order to protect the rights of others, every pupil has a RESPONSIBILITY to: • respect and uphold these rights for every member of the School community; • act at all times in a tolerant, civilised and sensitive manner. King Edward’s School is committed to ensuring that these entitlements and responsibilities are observed. Where a pupil has particular concern or complaint, he or she should consult a member of staff, who will take the appropriate action. 41 FORWARD TERM DATES Summer 2017 - Autumn 2018 SUMMER TERM 2017 AUTUMN TERM 2017 SPRING TERM 2018 SUMMER TERM 2018 AUTUMN TERM 2018 DRAFT TUESDAY 18 APRIL - WEDNESDAY 12 JULY Half-Term: Monday 29 May - Friday 2 June Bank Holiday: Monday 1 May Staff In-Service Training: Friday 26 May Staff In-Service Training/Leavers’ Day for Year 13 pupils Friday 30 June WEDNESDAY 6 SEPTEMBER - FRIDAY 15 DECEMBER Monday 4 September: Staff Preparation Day Tuesday 5 September: Induction Day for All New Junior School & Senior School Pupils together with all Year 12 pupils.
