The Employee of the Month for May 2012 is Ana Liza, Endoscopy Technician, in the
Endoscopy and Same Day Surgery Departments. Ana has been with East Orange
General Hospital since January 1991.
Ana has proven to be an excellent example of a team player. Although her primary role
is that of an Endoscopy Technician, she pitches whenever and wherever she is needed.
On any day, you can find Ana filling in as a PCT, as a unit secretary or transporter-to
avoid any disruption in patient care and to ensure that her teams daily functions run
smoothly. She does whatever it takes to get the job done. She provides individualized
care and attention to every patient that she serves. Ana has an excellent rapport with all
physicians especially the gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, as well as with her
entire team. Ana’s team says that she is always pleasant to work with.
Ana takes her responsibility in upholding accountability to her patients, department and
East Orange General Hospital very seriously. With her no-nonsense system of checks
and balances, the staff can always count on Ana’s efficiency, integrity and initiative. Ana
is very sensitive to patient privacy and confidentiality which is very important in the area
that she works. She pays the strictest attention to increase patient satisfaction with
improved outcomes for Patient Safety. Ana believes that demonstrating excellence in
patient care is the best referral to increase the business of the department. She holds
herself accountable to the mission of the hospital, as she believes in East Orange
General Hospital being the number #1 health care provider in the community.
Ana is another shining example of East Orange General Hospital’s commitment to
diversity to the community. She is able to embrace a diversified culture and this is
proven by her respect for patients from different cultures. co-workers. She is always
willing to learn and has expressed that learning is an ongoing thing for her. Even if it has
not been mandated, she takes it upon herself to do it. Ana has expressed that
“knowledge is power” and that “it can get you where you want to go and help you to
become whatever you want to be.”
