On Saturday, July 12th, a group of TCAFCU Employees volunteered their time and worked with the Designing 4 Hope team to create bedroom makeovers for Pottstown brothers, Jake, 10, and Ryan, 7. Both brothers have been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. “I enjoy helping out with the makeovers because I cannot imagine the struggles these families encounter on a daily basis. I love seeing their smiles when the room is unveiled. What a simple way to brighten a child’s world!” said Alice from TCAFCU. “It is so exciting to see the children’s faces light up when they see how fabulous their room looks! That’s what I look forward to,” said TCAFCU staff member DonnaMarie. Jake and Ryan’s mother confirmed the boys’ contentment with their new spaces. “The boys slept very well last night! Ryan kept saying, ‘My room is awesome!’ Jake has been making use of all the storage nooks and adding his Lego collection back one by one. You did such a thoughtful, wonderful job. Thanks again!” This room makeover was funded by sponsorship from TCAFCU. Stay up to date on all our makeovers by liking us on Facebook. The goal of Designing 4 Hope is to design and renovate critically ill children’s rooms, providing them with a special place to rest, recover, heal and dream. Their hope is to help them forget about hospitals, treatments and needles for just a little while. To learn more, please visit www.designing4hope.org, and like them on Facebook. While Roth IRA contributions do not reduce taxable income, the most distinctive benefit of the Roth IRA is that it offers tax-free withdrawal of funds starting at age 59-1/2 or when the person retires, as long as certain requirements are met. This option could be good for those who anticipate being in a higher tax bracket upon retirement. The Roth has no required minimum withdrawals during the lifetime of the account owner; after death, required withdrawals apply to the account’s beneficiary. The beneficiary takes these distributions tax-free while the balance of the plan continues to grow tax free.
