tourney, the entry deadline for teams
is tomorrow- Thursday, June 30.
The tournament, lor a number of
years sponsored by the Tupper Lake
Chamber of Commerce, has been
sponsored by the Tupper Lake men's
slow pitch softball league for the past
two years.
Entry fee is set at $100 per team
and prizes will be awarded based on
24 entries as follows: 1st place, $875;
2nd place, $575; 3rd place, $225 and
4th place, $225. In addition, the "most
valuable player" in the tournament
will receive a handsome plaque.
Refreshments will be available at
the park during the three-day event.

golf tourney
The Northern New York Golf
Association six-man team championship tourney, in which Tupper
Lake has competed for many years,
will be held this year in Malone on
August 5 and 6.
On Thursday, August 4, a club
president's and team directors'
tournament will be held at Malone.
Representing Tupper Lake will be
Ronald Belleville, president of the
Tupper Lake Country Club, and Fred
Baker, director of the six-man team.
The make-up of Tupper Lake's
six-man team was decided on Friday
and Saturday, August 5 and 6, on the
basis of contestants' showing in 36
holes at team stroke play. The
players who will represent Tupper, in
the order in which they qualified, are
as follows: No. 1-Bill LaRocque; No.
2- Ken LaFave; No. 3- Bruce Smith;
No. 4- Rod Beaulieu; No. 5- Marshall
Jarvis; No. 6- Don Gagnon; alternates- Rodney Gale, C.J. Parry and
Gene LaFave.
Senior representative will be
determined later this week, in a
playoff for the junior club championship.

0, in a thrilling championship duel.

The third running of the 38-mile Lake Placid to Keene bike race will take
place on Sunday, July 3. The race will fall on the same day as the three
and six mile Monty-Arto foot race from Upper Jay to Keene.
The 38 mile course will begin in Lake Placid. Bikers will proceed
through the Wilmington Notch, past Whiteface mountain to Wilmington,
Jay, Upper Jay and finish at Keene.
Helmets will be required and all traffic rules must be obeyed. The
event is sponsored by the Lake Placid Cycling Club and Sundog Ski and
Sport of Lake Placid.
