Tulip Time Photography Competition
ELIGIBILITY FOR BELLE PLAINE TULIP TIME
PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST


The Contest is offered to intermediate and amateur
photographers of any age working in all forms of
photographic media – black and white or color. By entering,
you agree to the following official rules andthe decisions of
Belle Plaine Tulip Time Committee, which are final and
binding in all respects.
Local residents and those living in vicinity are welcome to
join.
ENTRY

Categories are as follows:
1) Nature and Landscapes: These pictures include landscapes, outdoor scenery,
nature images, sunsets, urban landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, and farms. These
images showcase outdoor beauty. Note: if you enter a photo into this category, please
include the place name in the title or description of your photo.
2) Belle Plaine Pride: Do you have an image take in Belle Plaine that you would like
to feature? Enter in this category to showcase your best images of Belle Plaine, Ks.
3) Animals: These contest entries are images of all kinds of animals. They can be
pictures of pets - dogs and puppies, cats and kittens, birds, reptiles, amphibians - as
well as photos of wildlife, zoo life, farm / domesticated animals, and even insects.
4) Portrait: These are pictures of people in all walks of life - parenting and family,
children, baby, couples and relationships, models / fashion and sports.
5) Tulips: This category is a special category to feature Belle Plaine’s Tulip
Time. Images may be entered that were not taken at Tulip Time, but do feature tulips.
6) Flowers: Look for really interesting, unique, and beautiful pictures of flowers to
enter in this category.
7) Details & Macro: Getting in close is the name of the game for this category. We
welcome photographs of small details that suggest a larger story. This is also the place
for macro photographs. Flower images that are also macro images may be entered in
either category. Category choice is up to participant.
8) Other than a Person, Place or Thing: This is the place for any image that doesn’t
fit into one of the other categories. If you have a photo that you love that doesn’t seem
to fit into the other categories, enter it into this category.
Rules





A limit of two entries maximum per participant per category, all other entries are
disqualified.
All photos MUST be 8x10 and matted; framed artwork will not be accepted. (4-H
matting will be acceptable)
By submitting your photo, you acknowledge that the Photo is your own work and that
you have the full rights to submit the Photo for the contest. By submitting Photo, you
grant to Belle Plaine Tulip Time committee access to print or include the Photo in print
and non-print products.
Submission of entry will be the week prior at Belle Plaine Public Library during normal
business hours. Deadline for entries will be Friday 4:00pm of Tulip Time
weekend. Judging will be Saturday at 9:30 am and Library doors will be locked until all
photos have been judged and ribbons have been placed for display. Doors will reopen
for community viewing and Best of Show judging until 3pm Sunday. Best of show will
be awarded Sunday at 3 pm.
Submitted Photos are to be left on display and will be eligible for pick up Sunday at
3:00 pm and throughout the following week during normal business hours at the
Library. PLEASE DO NOT PICK UP PHOTOS PRIOR TO SUNDAY AT 3 PM.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY




Belle Plaine Tulip Time Committee or staff is not responsible for any printing or
typographical errors contained in any document related to this contest.
Belle Plaine Tulip Time Committee or staff reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to
suspend or cancel this contest for any reason beyond its control that could influence
the impartiality or normal operation of this contest.
Belle Plaine Tulip Time Committee or staff also reserves the right, at its discretion, to
disqualify any entry and/or photograph that fail to comply with contest regulations, or for
any reasonable cause.
Belle Plaine Tulip Time Committee or staff will take every necessary precaution in
handling the photographs that are submitted. However, they cannot be held responsible
for any damages or loss.
