Preparing For Your Tour
Passports
A valid passport is required with a minimum validity of six months
from your date of return home. Always carry your passport and
other travel documents in your hand luggage. Keep photocopies
of these documents in a separate bag while travelling, and leave
a copy at home with family or friends in case of an emergency.
Travel Insurance
We highly recommend that you obtain comprehensive medical
and travel insurance to cover your entire time away from home.
Foreign hospitalisation and treatment often requires payment in
cash, prior to the provision of services, and medical evacuation
can be expensive. Travel protection and luggage insurance are
highly recommended. We suggest that you purchase a travel
protection plan to cover trip cancellation for medical reasons,
trip delay, medical expenses, accidental death, lost luggage,
medical evacuation and airline cancellation charges under
a variety of circumstances. Be sure to pack your policy in case
you need to make a claim while on tour. Please add your
insurance policy details to your tour personaliser.
Luggage Restrictions
Luggage limits on checked luggage vary depending on your
international airline, however, it is important to adhere to the
luggage limit on all tours, which is 20kg (44lb). If your tour
includes flights within Asia, these airlines carry a strict luggage
limit of 20kg, for which an additional charge may be imposed
upon check-in if your luggage exceeds this weight.
Clothing
Dress on tour is casual, and light, comfortable clothing is
recommended. Good walking shoes are also beneficial as
some excursions involve walking over uneven ground.
4
Markets are a great place to learn about local customs
Some countries are very conservative and you should dress
accordingly. As a general guideline, shoulders and knees should
be covered (for both men and women) when entering buildings
of a religious nature and family homes. When entering temples
and pagodas, shoes may need to be removed. Smart/casual
clothing is acceptable when you dine at restaurants, or on board.
Guests are not permitted to enter restaurants barefoot or wearing
bathing attire.
Other Necessities to Pack
• Passport
• Wallet (cash, credit cards)
• Money belt
• Airline tickets/e-ticket confirmation details
• A day bag (to hold extra layers, rain jacket, water, snacks,
sunglasses and camera)
• Medication and copies of prescriptions
• Toiletries, including sunscreen and lip balm
• Insect repellent
Recommended optional items you may wish to bring include:
• A small umbrella
• An additional memory card for your camera
• Chargers for your phone and camera
• Electrical adaptors
• A calculator for currency conversion
• A list of addresses and important phone numbers
• A photocopy of the photo page of your passport
(keep separate from passport)

Preparing For Your Tour
Valuables & Security
Do not take anything with you that will create emotional or
financial hardship if lost or stolen. Carry all documents, money,
passport, tickets etc. with you. Do not carry these important items
in your suitcase. You may find a money belt (worn inside clothing)
useful while travelling. Never leave hand luggage unattended in
hotel lobbies or dining rooms. Avoid exploration on your own
of unfamiliar streets or areas. Also avoid excessive displays of
jewellery or cash. When sightseeing, keep all valuables locked
in the safe in your room or suite.
General Physical Fitness
APT’s cruises and tours are not physically demanding; however,
because of the nature of many of the sites you will be visiting, some
tours will require a good level of fitness and health to participate.
Some trips may not be appropriate for guests with certain medical
conditions and physical restrictions. Walking tours are often on uneven
ground and may include stairs as well as steep inclines. You should be
able to stand on your feet for an extended period of time to visit
museums, attractions and other sites. As well as when checking in for
flights and cruises and at Customs and Immigration. Throughout your
river cruise, the ship will often dock mid-river and you’ll be required to
disembark/embark your ship onto/from smaller vessels to travel ashore.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations may be required. We suggest you consult your GP
or travel clinic prior to your travels for the latest vaccination and
medical advice.
Allergies
If you have a food allergy or other condition that needs to be
managed on tour, please advise your booking agent as soon
as possible, as well as your Tour Director upon arrival, as most
suppliers require advance notice to cater for your condition.

Travel through lush, terraced scenery to the remote village of Sapa in Vietnam
Staying Healthy On Holiday
It’s important for you to be as healthy as possible before you travel,
and to maintain you health by applying good hygiene practices
whilst on tour. Respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses, whilst
usually minor in nature, can spread rapidly within a tour group,
and have a major impact on everyone’s enjoyment.
APT is committed to reducing the spread of infections on all tours
and cruises, and asks that you read and follow our recommendations,
to ensure a healthy, safe and enjoyable holiday for yourself and
your fellow travellers
Before You Go
Get Walking
As your tour or cruise will involve some sightseeing by foot,
and you will be required to embark/disembark ships and/or other
forms of transport, you will enjoy it more if you start exercising
ahead of time.
In the lead up to your trip we recommend you start walking three
times a week (including some steps) building up to an hour at
a time. This will ensure you have the stamina and energy to see
and appreciate all the sights your tour or cruise has to offer.
You should ensure your walking shoes fit properly and have been
broken in prior to departure.

See Your GP
Your GP or travel clinic is the best source of information about
preventative measures including vaccinations. We recommend
you consult your GP or local travel clinic for detailed advice to
ensure maximum pre-travel preparation. Please take a copy of
your travel itinerary with you to assist with the recommendations
of appropriate medication and vaccinations.
If you have health problems, ask your doctor to prepare your
medical history for a foreign doctor. It should include your name,
address, emergency contact, blood type, medical history, current
medications and dosages, drug allergies, reasons for prior
hospitalisation and a list of vaccinations and dates.
A copy of your prescriptions are vital in case of any health problems.
Prepare a list of your medications, including the name, dosage,
prescribing doctor and their phone number. Pack sufficient
medication for the duration of your tour. Your medication should
be kept close at hand in your purse or carry on bag. It is always
good to carry a list of your medications in case they are lost and
remember to leave everything in its original container so it can
be easily identified. It is also a good idea to bring a copy of your
prescription for glasses or contacts.
Pack a Medical Kit
A small medical kit is recommended for all travellers. Pharmacies
in large cities will likely stock most basic medicines and supplies
but they may be difficult to access and a script may be required
for some medications.
Your medical kit should include:
• A general purpose antibiotic to cover respiratory, skin and
gastrointestinal infections (e.g. azithromycin).
8
Discover Cambodia’s unique architecture
• Your favourite cold and flu medication e.g. cold and flu tablets,
throat lozenges and a nasal decongestant.
• Your preferred painkiller e.g. paracetamol, ibuprofen.
• Medicine for gastrointestinal upsets e.g. antacids, ‘stoppers’
for diarrhoea and a laxative for constipation.
• Other supplies including bandaids, blister pads, thermometer,
scissors, tweezers, eye drops for dry eyes.
In the Air
• Wear loose clothing and comfortable shoes during your flight.
• Eat light meals, drink plenty of water, and minimise caffeine
and alcohol consumption.
• Alleviate pressure in your ears by chewing gum, yawning,
swallowing, or gently blowing your nose.
• Avoid wearing contact lenses during your flight because
aircraft cabin air tends to dry them out.
• To avoid swollen legs and to reduce the risk of deep vein
thrombosis, wear knee length flight socks for all long haul
flights, and walk up and down the aisle to stretch your legs
and get blood circulating. You could also do a few isometric
exercises while seated (refer to your inflight magazine for
recommended exercise).
• If you arrive in the morning, try to sleep during your flight
so you can stay awake until the evening. This will help you
adapt to the new time zone and to avoid jetlag.

On Tour
Don’t Go Viral!
Practicing good hygiene is vitally important in stopping the spread
of common viral infections such as colds, flu or gastro, which can
spread quickly in an enclosed area such as coach, train, aircraft
or cruise ship.
Practice Good Hygiene:
• Washing your hands is the most effective way to reduce the risk
of contracting and spreading infections.
• Health experts recommend you wash your hands often with hot
water and soap for 20 seconds or longer before eating, after
sneezing or coughing, and after touching high contact surfaces
(such as door knobs, elevator buttons and railings).
• Please be mindful of your fellow travellers with respect to
coughing, sneezing and the disposal of used tissues.
• Hand sanitiser dispensers are located in various public areas
on board all our ships. Please make sure you make use of
these when reboarding and before all meals.
Colds & Flu
Viral respiratory infections are the most common infectious illnesses
affecting travellers. Colds and flu are primarily spread by people
coughing, so please practice hygiene and respiratory courtesy –
wash your hands often, cover your coughs and sneezes, and use
anti bacterial wipes/hand sanitiser frequently i.e. after shore
excursions, prior to meals and throughout the day.
Influenza is commonly contracted while travelling overseas. The
‘Flu Vaccine’ protects against flu viruses expected to be prevalent
during the current flu season. You should discuss this with your GP.
10
Discover the traditions of communities along the Mekong River
Gastro & Traveller’s Diarrhoea
Traveller’s Diarrhoea is the second most common infectious illness
affecting travellers. The illness can be due to a number of different
bugs including viruses and bacteria. Viral gastroenteritis is
generally spread by person-to-person contact, whereas bacterial
gastroenteritis is generally spread from consuming contaminated
food or water.
Symptoms can include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and
abdominal pain. The incubation for the illness is variable
depending on the cause. Symptoms are generally self-limiting
and treatment includes rest, rehydration, simple diet, anti-nausea
and anti-diarrhoeal medications. Antibiotics are generally reserved
for use when symptoms are more severe or protracted, e.g. fever,
abdominal pain, bloody diarrhoea or duration of symptoms for
more than two days.
Strict personal hygiene measures, particularly hand washing, helps
protect you from getting sick and of course spreading the infection
to others.
APT Health & Safety Protocol
APT has created a Health & Safety Protocol that all our Tour
Directors and Cruise Directors are required to adhere to. You may
be requested to assist in reducing the spread of viruses if you are
showing symptoms while on tour.
If you are showing symptoms of a cold or a virus whilst on tour,
you may be asked to wear a face mask, have meals in your room
or cabin instead of the dining room, or remain in your cabin until
the symptoms improve.

Water & Food Safety
• It is best to drink bottled water when travelling. Always ensure
the seal is intact.
• Bottled water should always be used for cleaning your teeth, unless
you are specifically advised the tap water is safe for cleaning your
teeth. If you are unsure, please ask your Tour Director.
• When visiting countries where you are unsure about general
hygiene practices, please take care if you are buying food from
street vendors or in small restaurants away from your hotel, cruise
ship or recommended venues. At these places, avoid raw fruit and
vegetables, dairy products (including ice-cream) as well as meat
and fish not properly cooked. It is generally safe to eat cooked
meats and vegetables prepared in hotels and restaurants in
tourist areas. Fruit that you peel yourself is considered safe.
• You can feel safe eating anything served to you at the tour
hotels and while on board your cruise.
• Don’t buy alcohol from street vendors.
Altitude Sickness
Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a condition caused by ascending
to high altitudes. Symptoms include headache, lack of appetite,
nausea, dizziness, fatigue or weakness. We recommend you
consult your GP for their opinion as to whether you may require
preventative medication.
As Shangri-la in China is located more than 3,000 metres above
sea level, most people will experience some affects from altitude,
and suffer mildly from AMS. Please note that if required, cans of
oxygen will be readily available for purchase.
To reduce symptoms of altitude sickness we recommend that
you drink plenty of fluids such as water, fruit juices, herbal tea
and avoid caffeinated and alcoholic drinks. Please inform your
Tour Director if you experience any of the above symptoms.

Wander along a quiet section of China’s Great Wall
Avoiding Malaria
See your GP or visit a travel clinic at least eight weeks before you
travel for your recommended vaccines and/or malaria medication.
Whether or not you are taking anti-malarial medication, it is
important to protect yourself from mosquito bites, especially at
dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
Precautionary measures include:
• Using a DEET-based insect repellent.
• Wearing light coloured clothing. Research has shown that
mosquitoes are attracted to dark colours. Light coloured
clothing also has the advantage of keeping you cooler
in the summer heat.
• Covering as much of your skin as possible. Wearing
long-sleeved shirts, long trousers, socks and shoes.
• Wearing clothes made of tightly-woven fabric which mosquitoes
are unable to penetrate.
• Wearing loose-fitting clothing so that mosquitoes cannot bite
through to your skin. However not too loose or they could
fly up sleeves and down collars.
• Also avoid wearing perfume or cologne as these are known
to attract mosquitoes.
• Please be aware that Doxycyline, a commonly prescribed
antimalarial, can cause gastritis and sun sensitivity.

Sun Exposure & Dehydration
The weather will be variable on your tour. Drinking plenty of water
is important to prevent dehydration. A hat and high quality sunscreen
are important for preventing sunburn, even on overcast days.

Take note of your airline’s regulations and policies
At the Airport
Reconfirmation of Flights
We recommend that you contact your airline(s) or travel agent
at least 72 hours before your initial flight to confirm your
departure details.
Check-In
It is important that you arrive at the airport at least two hours
before domestic flights and three hours in advance for international
flights. This will allow you time to check your baggage, present
your passport and ticket, get seat assignments and boarding
passes, and make your way through security procedures to the
boarding area. Please ensure you arrive at the airport at the correct
time. Early morning flights may require you to check in the day
before. Airlines have little leniency if flights are missed.
Delayed or Missed Flights
In the unfortunate event that you miss a flight completely or that
you are delayed substantially, please advise the airline
representative that you are a cruise passenger bound for a specific
start location, date and time. Be sure to advise APT of your new
travel arrangements immediately.
Checked Luggage Restrictions
International airlines may impose fees or require you to remove
articles if weight or size limits are exceeded. We recommend that
you contact your airline(s) or travel agent for specific information
prior to departure, especially as size and weight limits can vary
between airlines.

Meet the Giant Pandas of Chongqing Zoo
At the Airport
Hand/Carry-On Luggage Restrictions
For your comfort, limit hand luggage to one bag that fits under
your aircraft seat or in the overhead compartment. You will
receive an APT travel bag with your documentation. Make sure
you have your passport, airline tickets, medication and all your
travel documents with you in your hand luggage.
Luggage Tags
We supply APT luggage tags for you to fill out and attach to your
suitcase or hand luggage. It is also a good idea to put a label with
your name, address and telephone number on the inside of your
suitcase and hand luggage. For security reasons, keep all
unchecked luggage in your immediate possession. Unattended
luggage can be confiscated by airport personnel. We recommend
that you use these tags on your checked luggage as they are easily
identifiable by your Tour and Cruise directors as well as hotel and
transfer staff.
Lost or Delayed Luggage
Sometimes luggage is delayed during air transit. It is recommended
to take a change of clothing and any essential medication in your
hand luggage, or pack some clothing in your travel companion’s
bag. Place a copy of the hotel contacts inside each piece of
luggage. If your luggage is lost, this will help the airline find you.
Should your luggage be delayed, it is the responsibility of the
airline to deliver it to you. Claims for reimbursement should be
submitted directly to the airline – a claim form should be filled out
at the appropriate airline desk upon arrival. If you need assistance
in contacting the airlines for information regarding your delayed
luggage, please ask your Tour Director or Local Guide.

Airport & Airline Security
Most countries observe the following guidelines regarding liquid,
aerosol and gel restrictions on flights. However, we advise you to
check with your airline for clarification of regulations before you
leave. Each container of liquids, aerosols or gels in your carry on
luggage must be 100ml or less. All must be sealed in a transparent,
1 litre (or less) resealable plastic bag.
You may still carry through the screening point prescription medicines
and non-prescription medicines that you need for the flight. Proof
of need may be required. You will have to surrender any liquids,
aerosols or gels greater than 100ml that you are carrying at the
screening point. This includes duty free items (at many airports, you
are able to purchase duty free items after you have passed through
the screening point for your international flight).
Items allowed include empty containers such as mugs or
flasks, cosmetics and toiletries such as sanitary items, talcum
powder, contact lenses and lens solution, solid foods, medicines
including prescribed medication (e.g. insulin) and essential
non-prescribed medication.
Items over 100ml not allowed include drinks in cans and bottles;
liquid cosmetics and toiletries that are in liquid or gel form, such
as perfumes, creams and products in pressurised containers such
as hairspray, shaving foam/gel and aerosol deodorants; and
liquid-based food products.
Customs
To prevent the introduction of exotic pests and diseases on your
return home, arriving travellers are screened and luggage is often
inspected or X-rayed by customs or quarantine officers. All food and
other such items of plant and/or animal origin need to be declared.

Arrival & Departure Information
Airport Transfers
Airport transfers are included on the first and last day of the tour
package. Transfers with pre and post accommodation are
available at no extra cost if the accommodation is booked with
APT. No refund will be given for unused transfers. Transfers cannot
be re-routed to other pick-up points or destinations. Should you
miss your pre-booked transfer, you must make your own way
to/from the ship/hotel at your own expense. Transfers must be
booked and details advised to APT at least 60 days prior to travel,
otherwise transfers cannot be guaranteed.
Hotel Information
The official check in time at hotels is 3pm local time, however,
where possible, the hotel will endeavour to have your room
available earlier. If your flight arrives prior to your check in time,
your luggage can be stored at the hotel while you explore the
surrounding area. Standard check out time is at 11am. If you have
a late afternoon or evening flight, most hotels have a luggage
room where you can store luggage until your departure.
Gratuities
On all APT sailings, gratuities to your Cruise Director and ship crew
are included in the tour price. This also applies to land touring
where a Local Guide and/or Driver is provided.

General Information
Learn About Your Destination
It may be useful to do a little research on the locations that you
will be visiting. Familiarise yourself with the area, cities, the
language spoken and transport information. Refer to your itinerary
when researching and try to prepare yourself for anything that may
eventuate. The more you know about your destination, the more
you’ll appreciate all that you’ll see.
During your travels, you will encounter new customs and different
lifestyles. Appreciate and enjoy the differences. This process of
discovery and understanding is one of the many benefits of travelling.
Despite language barriers, a smile is universal. Friendliness and
tolerance towards others, including your fellow travellers, Cruise
Director and crew, is essential for everyone’s enjoyment on the tour.
Guest Feedback
We are sincerely interested in detailed comments about your
experience and holiday. We strive to further improve our tours as
a result of such comments. On board, you will receive a Traveller
Feedback form. Please take a few minutes to complete this and
return it to your Tour Director. These forms are then sent directly
to APT in Melbourne for review.
Emergency Contact Information
With your final documentation, we have provided you with some
important phone numbers and other information. Our local
representatives are also available to assist with any needs that may
arise while you are on tour.
Bargaining
Bargaining or bartering does not have to be a daunting experience,
this is a part of everyday life in South East Asia and not only do the
locals expect it, but they enjoy it. Here are a few tips for you to
assist with getting the best price at the local markets.

Travel to Hoi An on the east coast of Vietnam
General Information
Relax & Smile
Don’t let this process stress you, or annoy you. If you treat it like
a game, the chances are the vendors will offer you a fair price.
Stay calm, keep smiling and enjoy the experience.
Start Low
The vendor is always going to ask for an over the top price to start.
As a general rule, take 50-60% off what they have asked for and
work your way up to an agreed price.
Don’t Feel Guilty
Remember, it may seem like a cheap price to you, but in the end,
if the vendor is not happy with the price, they will not sell it to you.
Ship Schedule & Shore Excursions
Ship Schedule
The ship will sail promptly from each port in accordance with its
cruising schedule. The ship is unable to delay departures for
passengers who may not be on board. Unless you are on a ship’s
excursion accompanied by an appointed guide, it is your
responsibility to make your own way to rejoin the ship at
a subsequent stop. Without limitation, APT is not liable for any
costs incurred if you miss the ship’s departure for any reason.
Daily Program
The ship’s daily program features information about daily activities,
shore excursions, tour departure times and more. This is available
at the reception desk.
20
Step back in time at Beijing’s Forbidden City
Sightseeing
A sightseeing tour is included at each location. Tours can involve
walking, travel by motorcoach, local boat or a combination thereof.
Each tour is led by a qualified English-speaking Local Guide. In the
rare event of water level problems, it may be necessary to operate
part of the itinerary by motorcoach or to alter the program whenever
conditions render it necessary, by determination of the Captain.
Disruption to the Itinerary
Under normal operating conditions, itineraries will be delivered
as per the brochure; however, sometimes for reasons beyond our
control, it may be necessary to make alterations to your itinerary.
We recommend you take out comprehensive travel insurance that
covers direct or indirect costs that you incur as a result of an event
or factor beyond our control. Additionally, you are not entitled to
any refund for any alterations to your itinerary that are caused or
contributed to by any flood events or such other events that are
beyond our control. Should road conditions, weather or water
level problems, or any other condition (by determination of the
Tour Director or ship’s Captain) render it necessary, part of the
itinerary may need to be altered. Depending on the circumstances,
part of your river cruising may need to operate by coach.
Motorcoach & Local Boat Safety
You must remain seated at all times while the coach or local boat is
in motion to avoid serious injury. Hand luggage and other personal
items should be safely stored in the overhead luggage racks or under
your seat to keep the aisles clear. Heavy items, such as bottles,
should not be stored overhead. You will not be permitted to remain
on the motorcoach or the local boat during stops. Do not leave any
valuable items on the coach or local boat. Please watch the stairs
and overhead entrances when descending from the motorcoach,
and check for traffic when exiting the coach. Please follow these
safety precautions and take the time to note all emergency exits.

General Information
Weather
Myanmar, Cambodia and Southern Vietnam are always hot and
humid. The temperatures and humidity are lower from around
November to February, and the humidity is at its peak from May
to August. Northern Vietnam is more seasonal than the tropical
climate of the south. In the north they experience a cooler winter
season from December to February, with temperatures ranging
between 12-18 degrees Celsius. The temperatures will drop even
lower of the night time. Those travelling to Sapa in Vietnam over
the winter months can experience even cooler temperatures.
We recommend taking clothes which can be layered as well
as a warm jumper for the evenings over this time of the year.

Enjoy time to explore every exquisite detail of Angkor Wat
Vietnam & Cambodia
Visas
At the time of print (October 2015) Australian, New Zealand
and US passport holders require a visa to enter Vietnam, which
must be obtained prior to arrival. British passport holders do not
require a visa providing your stay in Vietnam does not exceed
15 days and you only require a single entry visa. British passport
holders who will holiday in Vietnam for more than 15 days or wish
to exit and re-enter Vietnam, must obtain a visa prior to departure.
Australian, New Zealand, British and US passport holders require
a visa for Cambodia, however, this can either be obtained upon
arrival at Siem Reap Airport, or on board your cruise if sailing from
Vietnam to Cambodia. You will require two passport photos to
obtain this visa and it must be paid in US dollars if your visa is
issued at Siem Reap Airport. For those obtaining the visa on board
your cruise, your visa will be charged to your on board account
and paid upon check out.
Currency
When travelling to Vietnam and Cambodia, it is recommended
to take US dollars as this will provide you with the best exchange
rate when converting to local currency. It is a good idea to have
smaller denominations of US dollars ($1, $5 and $10) as some
of the smaller vendors may not be able to provide you with
change for larger notes.
Vietnam’s official currency is dong. It is the preferred currency and
is accepted throughout Vietnam, however, US dollars are usually
accepted at markets and some restaurants.
In Cambodia, the official currency is riel, however, they prefer
US dollars to be used for all purchases. When withdrawing money
from an ATM in Cambodia, US dollars will be dispensed.

Credit Cards
Credit cards are not generally accepted at markets or at smaller
stores in either Vietnam or Cambodia. If you are planning on taking
a Cash Passport, which can be used as a visa debit card, please
ensure that you also take a standard credit card with you, as whilst
the visa debit card will work in the ATMs for withdrawals, it may
not always work in shops where it is being used as a credit card.
Language
English language is becoming very popular in Vietnam and
Cambodia, however French still remains the official second
language. There are still places where there are French signs
on shops. Some of the elderly still speak French.

Experience Bagan, one of the world’s greatest archeological sites
Myanmar
Visas
At the time of print (October 2015) Australian, New Zealand,
British and US passport holders require a visa to enter
Myanmar. These can be obtained online as an e-visa at
www.evisa.moip.gov.mm
Currency
The official currency in Myanmar is kyats (pronounced Chats) and
is the preferred currency throughout. US dollars may be accepted
at the markets of Yangon and Mandalay, but not in the small
villages and towns you visit during your cruise.
We recommend that you take US dollars with you to Myanmar
as many currency exchange offices and banks do not accept other
foreign currencies – they will only exchange US dollars. It is also
important to remember to change all your kyats at the airport
before departing Myanmar as you are not able to exchange kyats
outside of the country.
ATMs
ATMs are not readily accessible in Myanmar and at the time of
printing, ATMs are only available in Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan.
You will need to ensure that you are carrying enough local currency
with you on the cruise to last between ATMs.
Credit Cards
Credit cards are not readily accepted throughout Myanmar unless
you are in one of the larger stores in the main cities. It is important
not to rely on credit card as your only form of payment while on
your land touring and shore excursions.

Mobile Phones
At the time of printing, no international telephone provider has
reciprocal rights with the Burmese phone providers. This means
that your phone may not have any reception while in Myanmar.
It will be able to use Wi-Fi where available, but to use it to make
phone calls may not be possible. You may be able to purchase
an International SIM card and credit for the SIM card prior to your
departure for use while in Myanmar as these will connect to the
local provider. Another option is to purchase a SIM card at the
airport upon arrival. These are relatively inexpensive and allow you
to load credit on to this SIM card for use throughout your time in
Myanmar. If you intend to purchase an international or Burmese
SIM card, please speak with your current phone provider to ensure
that your phone is not locked to other providers.

Meet friendly Burmese people during your journey
Internet
Internet is relatively new to Myanmar and as a result, reception
is not always available while on board your cruise or in Inle Lake.
There may be times where the internet is not available for an
extended period of time. Please advise your family and friends back
home so they do not become worried if they do not hear from you
every day.
