Zhejiang University: Master of Science Program in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Global
Leadership
The School of Management at Zhejiang University is offering a Master of Science Program in Innovation,
Entrepreneurship and Global Leadership (PIEGL). It is a 2-year program designed for recent graduates
from international universities, with the aim of nurturing future business leaders who can obtain a deeper
understanding of the emerging markets and work in global or multicultural contexts. The PIEGL program
will start in September 2017 and will enrol about 30 students, all granted with a full scholarship.

Transdisciplinary Training for Resource Efficiency and Climate Change Adaptation in Africa II
(TRECCAFRICA II), invites applications from African nationals to participate in a master’s exchange
mobility or master’s full-time studies or doctorate exchange mobility or staff mobility. The
TRECCAFRICA academic programmes range across disciplines such as sustainable development,
environmental management, renewable energy, food science and technology natural resource
assessment, climate and society, biotechnology, agro-ecology, soil physics, microbiology and veterinary
medicine.

The University of Sheffield: Southern Africa Student Scholarship
The University of Sheffield Southern Africa Student Scholarship Fund (SUSASSF), in partnership with
the Department of Geography is inviting applications for a scholarship for students from Southern Africa
to pursue postgraduate programme. The scholarship is awarded to study on one of the following
courses: MA International Development, MSc Environmental Change and International Development
and MPH International Development.

Mandela Rhodes Scholarship
The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship, is administered by the Mandela Rhodes Foundation, which is a
partnership between Nelson Mandela and the Rhodes trust. The scholarship provides full funding for up
to a maximum of two years of postgraduate study. The award is open to all African citizens under the
age of 30 years and recipients must study towards Honours or Masters Degrees at recognised South
African institutions. The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, meals, book allowance, general
allowance, and travel expenses. In addition to receiving funding for their studies, scholars also undertake
a leadership development program while in residence.

Global Alliance for Chronic diseases call for applications
The fourth call for applications under the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD), focuses
on implementation research proposals on child, adolescent and adult age onset mental
disorders1 including, but not limited to, dementia, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, alcoholand drug-use disorders, etc., in low- and middle-income countries and/or in vulnerable populations in
high-income countries. Research under GACD involves regular exchange of research findings and
information across participating projects by means of cross-project working groups and annual joint
meetings.

The University of Tokyo: School of Science (Global Science Course - GSC) Transfer Program
The Global Science Course (GSC) was designed to create a platform enhancing cross-cultural
interaction among young minds from around the world coming together to learn science at the University
of Tokyo. GSC offers a unique opportunity for international students to pursue studies at the Faculty of
Science where Japanese language proficiency is not a requirement as the whole course will be taught in
English.

French Embassy scholarship programme
The French Embassy of South Africa invites students who wish to continue their tertiary education at
Masters Level in France to apply for its bursary programme for the academic year September 20172018. The French Embassy bursary programme is also proposing grants for 2017 to doctoral students to
integrate into establishments in France for specified periods of time in order to participate in a
collaborative research project as part of their doctoral thesis programme.

Chinese Government Scholarship
The Chinese Government is offering scholarships for South African students to study at Chinese
institutions from September 2017. The scholarship may be awarded for postgraduate (Masters, PhD or
Post-doc) or non-degree Chinese language studies. Bachelor’s degree scholarships are taught in
Chinese and will only be awarded to applicants who already have the required level of Chinese
proficiency (HSK 4 or above). Preference is given to applicants for postgraduate studies.

Global South Doctoral Workshop
Doctoral Workshop; PhD students (working in disciplines related to International and Development
Studies) from Stellenbosch University are encouraged to apply to the Global South Workshop jointly
organised by the Graduate Institute, Geneva and PUC Rio, which will take place in Rio in 2017.
Successful candidates will receive an invitation to the workshop and the reimbursement of airfare and
accommodation costs.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Programme
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) FIPDes is a 2-year Programme in Food Innovation
& Product Design. It is the first course created to tackle the global challenges of food innovation along
with product design and packaging. FIPDes students study, live and get professional experience in four
different EU countries. They benefit from the most competitive and innovative learning environments,
based on participative learning, team work, Research and Development projects and hands-on trainings
in collaboration with pioneering research, culinary & industrial laboratories.

Makerere University PhD Fellowship 2017
The Makerere University PhD Fellowship in Pre-eclampsia Research For African Students in Uganda, is
now accepting applications for its 2017-18 three years PhD Fellowship Program. The fellowship is
available for African applicants to pursue a research project in the infection and immunity research. This
fellowship will cover University fees, student stipend, health insurance, one return airfare, one return
airfare for overseas co-supervisor, travel insurance, visa costs, research funds, bench fees and costs for
international conference attendance.

Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science and Technology fellowship
The Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science and Technology (CREST) is offering postdoctoral
fellowships in Scientometrics / Bibliometrics and Research Evaluation. The initial fellowship is for 2-years
and renewable for another subsequent term of 2 years. Postdoctoral fellowship applications are open to
anyone who has completed their PhD in the last five years. A degree in information science,
bibliometrics or mathematical statistics will be a recommendation.

Romanian Government Scholarship
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Romanian Department of Public, Cultural and
Scientific Diplomacy are offering 85 scholarship opportunities to foreign citizens, to study in Romania.
This opportunity is open to students who wish to pursue studies in bachelors, masters and PhD. Courses
will be taught in Romanian language. Applicants must be available to commence with studies on 1
October 2017

New Zealand Development Scholarships
New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS) are funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme, the
New Zealand Government’s overseas aid and development programme. The NZDS provide funding for
full-time postgraduate study from selected developing countries to give candidates an opportunity to gain
knowledge and skills through study in specific subject areas which will assist in the development of their
home country.

Travel Grants
The Postgraduate Office Overseas Conference Grant (OCG) is a supplementary award to attend an
international conference outside of South Africa to present a paper or poster. Preference given to fulltime registered PhD students in their 3rd year.

Swedish Institute Scholarships for South African Students
The Swedish Institute is offering opportunities to highly qualified South Africans to apply for a master's

UNESCO/POLAND Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Engineering
The Polish National Commission for UNESCO and the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology and
Engineering Education at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow are offering forty
fellowships of six months duration each, in Poland, starting on 2 October 2017. The beneficiaries of
these fellowships will be given the opportunity to undertake an individual research programme in the field
of Science, Technology and Engineering.

Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) Master
Leiden University is inviting applications for the Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) for Short
Courses. The fellowships are awarded to professionals from one of 51 selected countries who are
unconditionally admitted to an NFP approved master's programme. An NFP fellowship is intended to
supplement the salary that the fellow should continue to receive during the study period. The scholarship
covers the tuition fee and health insurance and provides a contribution towards study materials,
international travel costs, visa costs and living expenses.

Korean Government Scholarship Program at Kyungpook National University
Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) at KNU at Kyungpook National University (KNU),
South Korea are offering scholarships for graduate studies programs. The scholarship are aimed
at students who would like to take part in graduate-level education and research programs. There are
two tracks to apply for KGSP. One is via Korean Embassy in your country, and the other is via Korean
universities.

KU Leuven: Advanced Master of European Politics and Policies
The Ku Leuven Public Governance Institute and the Leuven for International and European Studies have
now opened applications for the 2017-2018 intake of the Advanced Master of European Politics and
Policies (MEPP) at KU Leuven. MEPP is an EAPAA accredited one-year Advanced Masters Programme
with an explicit focus on Europe and comparative research on public policies and public administration.

AccessEd: Teaching experience
AccessEd is a non-profit organisation established to increase university access for young people from
under-represented backgrounds. The organization recruits, trains and pays postgraduate researchers to
deliver programmes of university-style teaching to small tutorial groups of students in local schools. With
the launch of their pilot programme in South Africa, there is an opportunity for researchers to be involved
in AccessEd's 2017 placements in schools in the Western Cape.

Nordic Africa Institute: Guest Researchers’ Scholarship Programme 2018
The Nordic Africa Institute is a center for research, documentation and information on contemporary
Africa in the Nordic region. The purpose of the Guest Researchers’ Scholarship Programme is to provide
opportunities for postdoctoral researchers in Africa to pursue their own research projects, thereby
indirectly strengthening the academic milieux in African countries. The scholarship programme is
directed at postdoctoral researchers based in Africa and engaged in Africa-oriented research within the
discipline of Social Sciences and Humanities. The applicant should be affiliated to an African
university/research center and have a proven track record of extensive research experience.

The Korean Development Institute Scholarship
The Korean Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy and Management is offering master's
students scholarship opportunities for the 2017/18 academic year. The institution is a government
economic think tank that focuses on social research in Korea. The scholarship covers full tuition, monthly
stipend and return flight ticket. Applicants must be in possession of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent
qualification before 31 August 2017.

Macquarie University Africa Development Scholarship
Macquarie University is offering the Africa Development Scholarship for students to pursue
undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Australia. The scholarship is awarded to learn any of
the courses offered by the university for full time, on-campus study. Macquarie University will provide
AU$5000 annually towards your tuition fees for the length of the course (AU$2500 is credited against
your tuition fees each semester).
