The residents of Willowbend at Marion recently
participated in an in-house pageant which is held annually.
Ms. Vivian Atkins, our recently crowned Ms. will represent
our facility in the upcoming statewide pageant.

Let Your Garden Grow
Labor Day
Labor Day is held annually on
the first Monday of September
and was originally organized
to celebrate various labor
associations' strengths and
contributions to the United
States economy. Currently, it’s
mainly a day of rest. Many
people mark Labor Day as the
end of the summer season
and a last chance to make
trips or hold outdoor events.
The residents and staff of Willowbend recently spent time
planting seeds for our garden which has many health
and therapeutic benefits and is an enjoyable form of
exercise. Gardening encourages use of all motor skills,
reduces stress levels and promotes relaxation.
Gardening in a group setting provides stimulation and
interest in nature and the outdoors as well as Improves
wellbeing as a result of social interaction. Thank you to
all who participated and keep up the good work!

Traditionally, people did not
wear white after Labor Day.
This custom seems to be slowly
dying out. More and more
people now wear white all
year round, rather than just in
the summer.

chart.
