Depart Australia
Fly to Beijing via Singapore. Upon arrival, you will be met and
transferred to hotel.
Day 2 Fri 25 Aug
Beijing
After breakfast, you will visit the renowned Beijing Suburban
Railway Museum. A number of highlighted locomotives are
exhibited including China’s earliest locomotive as well as
foreign locomotives. Next you visit the Tiananmen Square
and the China Railway Museum nearby, which based on
relics of the former Zhengyangmen East railway station.(B L D)
Day 3 Sat 26 Aug
Beijing
You will be taken north today to pace the ramparts of China’s
famed Great Wall, originally constructed over 2000 years
ago. This evening a traditional Peking Duck dinner completes
a very special day.

Day 4 Sun 27 Aug
Depart for Mongolia
Today you visit the Forbidden City as the former imperial
palace is called. In the evening you transfer to the train
station and depart for Mongolia aboard a chartered Chinese
train.

Day 5 Mon 28 Aug
Crossing the Gobi Desert
Around noon you reach the Chinese-Mongolian border,
where you transfer to the Tsaren Gold private train. You
have some time to explore the colourful local market in
Erlian, before your Russian train sets off towards Mongolia.
After crossing sections of the legendary Gobi Desert, the
train travels through the vast green steppes of Mongolia. You
spend the night aboard the train.

Day 6 Tue 29 Aug
Ulan Bator
Morning arrival in Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia. During
your city tour you will see the impressive Gandan Buddhist
Monastery and the odd Choijin Lama Temple. In the evening
you attend a performance of traditional Mongolian folk arts.
You spend the night in Ulan Bator.

Day 7 Wed 30 Aug
Ulan Bator
After breakfast you visit the Gandan Monastery, where it is
possible to observe a Buddhist religious ceremony. Your bus
then takes you to the Mongolian Alps with their majestic
scenery and bizarre rock formations. After a picnic lunch in a
yurt camp, you watch a small Mongolian horse-riding
demonstration and a traditional wrestling match. You spend
the night aboard the train.

Day 8 Thu 31 Aug
Ulan Ude
Travel through the valley of Mongolia’s largest river, the
Selenga, You are on the way to Ulan Ude, where your train
reaches the main route of the Trans-Siberian Railway. Here
you take an informative city tour. You spend the night
aboard the train.

Day 9 Fri 01 Sep
Lake Baikal
Today is spent exploring the remarkable natural
phenomenon of Lake Baikal, the largest reservoir of
freshwater in the world. In the morning your train travels
directly alongside Lake Baikal, on the old route of the TransSiberian Railway. During two extended photo-stops, you
have a chance to explore and record the scenic beauty of the
lake and its setting. A short boat excursion from Port Baikal
takes you out onto the lake. Visit a picturesque Baikal village.
Dinner is a Baikal-style picnic on the lakeshore with a view of
the incredible natural surroundings. You spend the night
aboard the train.

Day 10 Sat 02 Sep
Irkutsk
In the morning, you arrive in Irkutsk, the capital of Eastern
Siberia in tsarist times. During your city tour you see the
Okhlopkov Drama Theatre, the new memorial to Tsar
Alexander III, and the photogenic market hall. Around noon
you pay a worthwhile visit to an open-air museum with a
focus on life and work in historical Siberia. You spend the
night in a hotel in Irkutsk.

Trans-Siberia
After breakfast your train passes through the diverse
landscapes of eastern Siberia. Talks on board inform you
about the region and a vodka tasting with typical Russian
snacks is an opportunity to experience firsthand the Russian
festive customs of hospitality and clever toasts. You spend
the night aboard the train.

Kazan
After breakfast you reach Kazan, the Tatar capital. On your
city tour you see Tatar mosques and the most famous
Russian Orthodox cathedral. You also take a tour of Kazan’s
Kremlin, where you learn about the turbulent history of the
relationship between the Tatars, the Cossacks, and the
Russians. You spend the night aboard the train.

Novosibirsk
Around noon, your train arrives in Novosibirsk, the largest
city in Siberia. You are greeted with bread and salt in the
customary Russian manner and taken on a tour of this most
Soviet of cities along your entire route, including the chance
to see the mighty Ob River. You spend the night aboard the
train.

Moscow
Around noon, you arrive in Moscow, Russia’s capital and one
of the world’s richest and most dynamic cities. After check in
to your hotel, your first stop is the Kremlin with its glorious
cathedrals. After dinner you go on a magical evening trip
through the city, including the iconic Red Square.

Day 13 Tue 05 Sep
Yekaterinburg
Your train stops in the afternoon in Yekaterinburg, the
capital of the Ural Federal District. The city is known as the
place where the Russian tsar Nicholas II and his family were
murdered in 1918. During a tour you see the Cathedral of the
Saviour on the Spilled Blood, which was built in 2003 to
commemorate that tragic historic event, and the city centre
attractively restored in 2009. Back on board, you enjoy views
of the Urals landscape and indulge yourself in the dining car.
Your private train is already rolling across the European
continent. You spend the night aboard the train.

Moscow
Today you go on a guided tour of Moscow to see the
reconstructed Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the New Virgin
Monastery, and Red Square with its colourful St. Basil’s
Cathedral. Later you explore the Metro in depth with your
guide.

This morning you visit the Museum of the Moscow Railway,
formally the Museum of Lenin’s funeral train. Later you will
be transferred to airport for your overnight flight home via

Compartment Cat. II Classic
In the CLASSIC CATEGORY, a compartment is shared by
two guests. Berths are sized approx. 70x190cm and
arranged facing each other. There is also a table under
the window. Combined toilet/lavatory compartments
are located at each end of this category’s cars. In every
second car there is a shower compartment.
Compartment Cat. II Superior
In the SUPERIOR CATEGORY, a compartment is shared
by two guests. Berths are sized approx. 67x187cm and
arranged facing each other. There is also a table under
the window. Combined toilet/lavatory compartments
are located at each end of this category’s cars. In every
second car there is a shower compartment.
Compartment Cat. II Superior Plus
In the SUPERIOR PLUS CATEGORY, a compartment is
shared by two guests. Berths are sized approx.
70×190cm and arranged facing each other. There is also
a table under the window. Combined toilet/lavatory
compartments are located at each end of this
category’s cars. 8 compartments share one refurbished
shower room.
Compartment Cat. III Nostalgic
Each NOSTALGIC Category offers two large berths approx.
80×185cm and an armchair for an especially comfortable
view of the changing landscapes. Each of two neighbouring
compartments shares a semi-private lavatory with wash
basin and simple shower located between them.
Combination wash and toilet facilities are located at both
ends of the wagons.
Compartment Cat. IV Bolshoi
The BOLSHOI CATEGORY is equipped with two beds: the
lower one measures 110x187cm, the upper one 80x176cm.
Furthermore, 5.57m² large compartments offer a cosy
seating bench, a commodious table and a wardrobe. The
Bolshoi category has its own lavatory equipped with a toilet,
wash basin and integrated shower with a full shower
curtain.
Compartment Cat. V Bolshoi Platinum
Each of the BOLSHOI PLATINUM CATEGORY compartment
provides 7.15m² of space, even more than the Bolshoi
compartment. The lower bed measures 120×184cm, the
upper one 82×174cm. Each compartment has a spacious
clothes closet and its own lavatory outfitted with a separate
shower cabin.

TRIP FITNESS
While you don’t need to be super fit for this tour, there will
be some days which will involve a fair amount of walking.
You will get the most out of this trip if you are able to walk
happily for a few hours. People who can’t manage this will
still be able to participate in most activities on this tour.
Participants are advised to bring a good pair of walking shoes.

DEPOSIT AND FINAL PAYMENT
The deposit of $1,350 per person is accepted as a first instalment of the
tour cost and will be used to secure your preferred train compartment on
the train. Your deposit will be fully refunded if the arrangements cannot
be confirmed or the tour is cancelled. A detailed invoice is sent out to all
passengers booked on the tour, approximately two weeks prior to due
date of the final payment. Final payment for the tour needs to be
received 90 days prior to tour departure.
CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS
If it is necessary to cancel your booking, cancellations must be received
in writing and the following scale of cancellation charges will be applied,
per person.

No refund is available for cancellation after commencement of tour or for

FORCED CANCELLATION
In the event that, due to failure to reach a minimum number of tour
participants (excluding the tour leader), it is necessary to cancel the tour,
you will receive a full refund of your deposit. If it is necessary to cancel
the tour, we will advise you not less than 90 days prior to the tour
departure.
PASSPORT AND VISAS
It is the traveller’s responsibility to ensure that they posses the necessary
travel documentation for the tour, such as a valid passport and any required
visas. In general a passport should be valid at least 6 months beyond the
end of your journey and have two clear pages for each country to be visited
to allow for entry and exit stamps en-route or for any visas applicable for
countries in your journey. At the time of making your booking you will be
given information about any visas that may be required for the tour.
PRICES
Tour prices stated on the flyer have been calculated on the basis of
exchange rates and tariffs valid at time of print and are subject to change up
until the date of departure. Should you decide to cancel your tour on the
basis of a change of price, then normal cancellation charges will apply.

transportation companies or firms concerned shall constitute the sole

these tours and/or passenger. All tickets, deposit tickets, coupons or orders
are furnished and issued subject in all respects to those terms and

provided there by are offered or supplied by owners, public carriers, or
managing agents. The issuance and acceptance of receipts, tickets,
