Long answers: Please respond to the following questions on a separate sheet of
paper and turn them in with your application. Provide at least one paragraph for
each question.
1) Why are you excited to participate in the Ríos to Rivers exchange? In your answer,
consider how participating in the Ríos to Rivers exchange will contribute to your
education, possible career path, and personal development.
2) During the 2017 summer program on the Klamath you will be asked to prepare and
teach a lesson to your peers and the Chilean students about the natural or cultural
history of the Klamath River. Please list a topic you are interested in that you could
teach to the group. Describe why you are interested in this topic, briefly what you know
about this topic already, and who you could go to to learn more about the topic.
3) What are some personal qualities that you would like to develop or improve upon,
and how do you think participating in the Ríos to Rivers exchange will help you to
develop these characteristics? What qualities or skills do you possess that would
benefit the Ríos to Rivers group?
4) Describe your relationship with the Klamath River. How has the river influenced you,
your family, and your community?
