HOLE IN ONE for R5000!
Kobus Myburgh hit a Hole in One on the 3rd and he didn't see it go in!
Not having played much golf lately, Myburgh thought his drive on the 3rd was too
short and turned away in disgust. Instead his ball hit the edge of the green, slowly
proceeded to roll across the green, hesitated and gently plopped into the hole. His
Four Ball and the jubilation of the Logos School Principal, Mrs Talita Lloyd, and the
excited spectators watching from the Club balcony alerted him to his triumph! Robertson Toyota were pleased to hand him R5000 to celebrate his victory! Hannes
Schreuder of Robertson Toyota had put up the R5000 to default to the Closest to the
Pin after several years of no one hitting a Hole in One to drive away a Toyota car. He
was absolutely thrilled that Myburgh joined the elite handful of golfers who have
managed a Hole in One on the 3rd at the Silwerstrand Golf Course.

HUGH BAIOCCHI
Golfing Icon, Hugh Baiocchi, driving through from Cape Town made an early tee off at 7:16am and was dogged by two professional photographers around the course. Baiocchi said he hadn’t had the best round but he
thought that Robertson had a great course and all compliments to the grounds man - the greens were immaculate! High accolade indeed from a golfing legend who designs golf courses and who has won more than
20 professional tournaments around the world.
He enjoyed the day so much that he would like to return to play in another Logos Golf Day. South African
born Baiocchi, and his wife Joan, live in Florida, USA. What a gentleman! Logos was honoured by his presence at their golf day presented by Breedenet.
Hugh Baiocchi played in the Tableview Coachworks 4 Ball. Owner, Mario Teixeira, was instrumental in Logos
hosting a golf day as a fund-raiser for Logos Christian School, with 10% going to Charity, 8 years ago.

THE HIGH’S
In an on-course Radio interview early on Saturday morning, Robertson’s top pro golfer, Jacquin Hess, gave
the Logos Golf Day presented by Breedenet a terrific plug! The Saggie Stone hand crafted beer “wet” hole
went down a treat as did the Breedenet on course handouts.
Archie Steyn sunk his ball in the final shoot out of the PNP Putting Competition to take home a Weber Braai.
The best of holes 5, 8, 13 and 16 was won by Mike Sharkey on 12 with Lance Bowes on 11 as runner up –
there were 5 golfers on 11, but a lucky draw decided the runner up. Lance was on form and also took the
Wolfkloof Straightest Drive on the 4th. P Morkel won the WeBelieve IT Longest Drive on the 6th and G
Llewellyn the Graham Beck Longest Drive on the 15th. Despite winning the Viljoensdrift Closest to the Pin on
the 11th, Mick Callaghan from Pearl Valley reckons his best shot of the day was his ice cold Jagger Bomb on
the 19th!
The ladies had a good day on course with Viv Newell and Ena Stipp coming in 4th with 49 points, father and
son Nicky Cilliers Snr and Jnr where back from the Strand to take 3rd place on 50 points, Billy Jeneke and
André Eksteen came in second with 52 points, but the winners of the day were the Voigt brothers on 54
points who each took home a Gary Player autographed golf cap, accommodation and meal vouchers, a case
of Arabella wine and a decadent hamper of Louretta’s famous biscuits.

HIGHLIGHTS
It was wonderful to welcome some of our international 4 Balls back to play! Cathy and André Fillay kindly
presented us with a photo of them wearing their Funky Aprons and beaming smiles at home in Switzerland.
Above right is a photo of Cathy wearing her Grecian blue golfing gear.
Raven Lotter got lucky on the 17th when his 7 iron tee shot hit the fence and kicked the ball back to land
80m from the green. With a good round behind his back Nico Snyman still had 3 mulligans left to make Birdy
on the 18th, however he sank a 5m putt to make Birdy on the first try!
With each golfer receiving a huge PNP Goodie Hamper everyone was a winner!
THE LOW’S
The wind gusts that picked up over lunch time especially affected our internationl players with the Girbig’s
pronouncing them as just plain rude. Willem Goosen hit 2 houses with one ball on the 6th, but fortunately no
damage was caused. Gerhard Engelbrecht and golfing partner weren’t so fortunate on the 13th ...
Renée Goosen was dressed to win but her game just wasn’t there on Saturday. Derval Callaghan on one of
the Pearl Valley 4 Balls was similarly disgusted with her game and felt that she hadn’t hit one good shot, “...
not one, none, nada, nothing, not one!” The Greek After Party and the anticipation of a stay at Cornwell
Safari Lodge in Botswana more than made up for it though!
LOGOS GOES GREEK
Logos in Greek means The Word of God so it seemed fitting when the PNP caterers suggested
doing a Greek cuisine dinner party. Each of our lady guests were presented with a Valentine’s
red rose after the Awards Ceremony. PNP served a delicious selection of traditional Greek
dishes and desserts that would compliment the Bon Courage bubbly. The Souvlaki was out of
this world - marinated overnight in olive oil and lemon these large cuts of succulent lamb
where braaied at the Club by George Joannou and family. Flowers were enthusiastically tossed
in appreciation of the Greek dancers. It was vastly entertaining watching a few brave golfers
gamely learning the intricate steps!
Awards Ceremony
The GM of the Silwerstrand Golf & River Estate, Ludwig Vercuiel bade everyone a warm welcome. Club Captain, Louis Jordaan thanked golfers for their participation. Prizes were handed out by Presenting Sponsor
Breedenet’s CFO Dudley Davids and Logos Principal, Talita Lloyd.
Thank you to all our generous prize sponsors! With huge PNP Hamper Goodie Bags everyone is a winner!
Congratulations to all the winners - we trust you will enjoy your prizes!
