Product Data Sheet FLUOROLINK S10 Application Segments Fluorolink S10 is a perfluoropolyethers with ethoxysilane terminal groups apt to chemically bond the –OH sites present on a variety of surfaces, for instance glass, any other siliceous surface, metals, metal oxides, painted or coated metals, acrylics, polyurethanes, polycarbonates plastics. Performances A thin fluorinated layer is created by this product onto the surface with substantial reduction of surface energy that imparts a combination of surface properties relevant to the final performance of the coated material. Properties typically enhanced are oil-water repellency, release easiness and coefficient of friction reduction. The thin protective film shows also low refractive index, good weathering, solvent and abrasion resistance and antireflection properties. Formulations Fluorolink S10 needs to be applied from a solvent solution containing water that participates to the chemical reactions involved in the formation of the surface layer. The most relevant parameters to be controlled to achieve optimum performance in each specific case are the concentration of silane derivative, the aging of the treating solution, the catalysis (by an acid or alkali) and the curing conditions (time and temperature) after the application. Example of formulation: 0.1%-1.0% wt Fluorolink S10 0.4%-4.0% wt water (4/1 wt/wt ratio water/Fluorolink S10) 0.1-1.0% wt acetic acid or HCl 10% (1/1 wt/wt ratio acetic acid/Fluorolink S10) 99.4-94.0% wt isopropyl alcohol Shelf life of this formulation: 2-3 days. How to use Dilute Fluorolink S 10 in Isopropanol at the concentration of use, recommended 0.1-0.2%, then add the right amount of water, and at the end the acid catalyst. The solution could turn slightly cloudy, but this will not affect the final performance. Wait for 30 minutes before applying in order to allow the hydrolisis of the siloxane groups. The product can be applied by dipping, spraying, spin coating or by roll, after the application the product has to be cured at T=100°C for 15 min + T=150°C for 15 min. Room temperature curing is also possible but this will lead to a longer time to get the final performance.
