FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 31, 2015 CONTACT: Agnes Moss 202-645-8075 IT’S THE RETURN OF ‘THE BIG PAYBACK’ $600,000 giveaway funded by Unclaimed Prize Fund is back Washington, DC – The largest single promotion in the history of the DC Lottery continues with The Big Payback II. Starting August 2, The Big Payback II—like its predecessor—will award players more than $600,000 in cash prizes with one lucky player winning the $250,000 Grand Prize. “The promotion was such a success, we had to do it again!” says Interim Executive Director Tracey Cohen. “Who doesn’t like to win? And, with The Big Payback—players have the chance to win big on their initial purchase and even bigger in the Second Chance contest,” says Cohen. For every $5 DC Lottery purchase on a single ticket (DC Scratchers and Tap-N-Play games are not included in this promotion), players will receive ONE entry into the Second Chance contest. Each entry will contain a special webcode to be entered online at dclottery.com. Players will be awarded a free bonus entry for every three webcodes entered. From those entries, the DC Lottery will award a $10,000 prize every weekday with winners announced at 2 pm and 8 pm on CBS radio stations WPGC and WNEW through September 4. As with the first iteration, the winning doesn’t stop there. The Big Payback II’s culminating event promises even greater cash prizes. Scheduled for October 1 at DC Lottery Live/CBS Studio at 1015 Half Street, SE, this climax event will be a high-stakes invitation-only affair with just 50 special guests asked to participate. Each will receive a $100 gift card just for attending. From those 50 special guests, ten will win $5,000; one will receive $10,000; one will receive $15,000; one will receive $25,000; one will win $50,000; and one lucky player will win the $250,000 Grand Prize! There will also be the added bonus of the chance to win $3,000 in the always exciting Money Machine. The Big Payback is funded by the DC Lottery’s Unclaimed Prize Fund. The fund is a repository for all monies unclaimed by DC Lottery winners. “There are a variety of reasons why lottery prizes go unclaimed. The Big Payback is our opportunity to give those monies right back to the players,” says Cohen. ### Founded in 1982, the DC Lottery is the District of Columbia Government agency that regulates the sale of gaming products and charitable gaming activities in the District of Columbia.
