Day Creek 6th Grade
This summer every new 6th grade student has the opportunity keep science skills
up to speed and possibly earn extra credit with 6th grade teachers.
Here’s how…
By completing the following activities related to Science, you can keep your scientific skills at grade level
during the summer months and possibly earn some extra credit for 6th grade. Each requirement on the
JumpStart Assignment Activity Log must be met in order to be eligible for extra credit.
So, let’s get busy!
How:
 Access online eTextbooks on the Day Creek website with user name and password for science
eTextbook Earth Science
User names and passwords may be obtained by using the link below to contact the district
librarian to request the information be emailed to you. The form for requesting a username
and password will only show Social Studies, but the reply will include user names and
passwords for all subjects.

Locate the Chapter 15 – Weather and Climate section of the 6th Grade Science eTextbook.
Complete each of the JumpStart Assignments listed for Chapter 15 – Weather and Climate,
following the procedures outlined in this packet.
Bring all of your work to school on the first day of 6th grade and turn it in to your new science
teacher.
Procedures for completing assignments:






Each Chapter 15 – Weather and Climate Section should be on a separate sheet of lined paper.
Each sheet of paper should have your name (first and last) and the assignment written on the top.
Read each section in the Chapter 15 – Weather and Climate.
Answer selected Chapter 15 – Weather and Climate Section Review questions in complete
sentence(s) or well-written paragraph(s), depending on the type of question and your response.
Complete selected Quick Labs and Science Skills Activity and attach results and analysis.
Have your parents initial the JumpStart Assignment log for each lesson.
Complete Sentence Example:
1. What is the dew point?
A: The dew point is the temperature where condensation equals evaporation. When
condensation exceeds evaporation, water droplets called dew will form on the container.

teachers may offer extra credit.
