We hear of the tremendous vitality of Jesus as the vine with many branches in the Gospel today. It’s comforting to know that we never walk alone in life when our lives are attached like a vine to Jesus. The Gospel reminds us that walking with Jesus requires the disposal of bad habits to make room for spiritual growth. Arborists know that pruning a tree can remove dead material and reshape the specimen into healthy new growth. We heard about Saul experiencing new growth as a disciple of Jesus in the first reading. The story witnesses to the need for courage to bravely go where the vine of Jesus leads us. There must have been great pain for Saul to endure the pruning needed to make him become the foremost apostle of Jesus. Saul embraced the pruning because he knew that intimacy with Jesus was worth the sacrifice. Are you willing to accept sacrifice to grow in your relationship with Jesus? Living our lives with Jesus requires faith and sacrifice. Allowing pruning to occur in our faith life makes room for new and unexpected growth in our life with Jesus. Be open to new growth in your relationship with Jesus this Easter season. The feeling of pride will be greater than ever! I will not only leave this school fully educated in my faith and with knowledge, but I will also leave with some great memories. The education this school gives me, I personally feel, will truly prepare me for the rocky road of high school and even college that is in my future. Incarnation School allows me to freely practice my Catholic faith and show my love for God. When I first came here I felt miniscule compared to all the older kids, and I thought I would never be as smart and tall as they were, but here I am now, still not quite as tall, but I can thank my great teachers who have taught me almost all I know today. This school truly molded me from a small kid: one who imagined more than paying attention, into this mature person making it all the way through seven and a half years of school. Thank you!
