Organisational Context
Plenty Valley Community Health (PVCH) provides primary healthcare, social and psychological
support services to people of all ages, focusing on the growing outer northern metropolitan area of
Melbourne.
Our services have a strong focus on treatment, prevention, early identification, rehabilitation and
maximization of independent living skills.
PVCH is a major provider of primary healthcare in our region and is committed to establishing a wellintegrated primary healthcare service that is accessible to people in the City of Whittlesea and
neighbouring metropolitan and rural municipalities. PVCH partners with General Practitioners,
Hospitals, the three levels of government, local agencies and community members to achieve an
effective universal primary healthcare system.
PVCH is a registered Community Health Centre and a Company Limited by Guarantee. It is funded
by government grants and other self-managed revenue activities. It is governed by a Board of
Directors elected and appointed from the community.
Our expectation is that staff will operate as a co-operative team. Our staff will be flexible, multi-skilled
and able to work with a diverse range of individuals, multidisciplinary groups and community
agencies.
Our staff will continually update their knowledge to take on new responsibilities and challenges.
Purpose and Scope
The Allied Health Assistant position works collaboratively within the HACC/ Community Services
Allied Health Team. The position is funded by the Home and Community Care program and as such
works within the funding guidelines. The Allied Health Assistant position works within an
interdisciplinary framework to provide prevention, early identification and intervention, lifestyle
interventions, assessment and treatment for services such as dietetics, occupational therapy,
physiotherapy, podiatry, community health nursing, exercise physiology and counselling/casework.
The Allied Health Assistant will provide support to clinicians for individual and group services for
clients and undertake administrative tasks which facilitate good client care.

Position Description
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Service delivery:
Provide assistance to clinicians in planning, preparation,
implementation, evaluation, review and transportation activities
required for individual therapy, groups and programs.
Under the supervision of the clinician, provide extra support to
clients who participate in group activities.
Conduct follow-up home visits and carry out tasks as requested by
clinicians. This includes setting up and educating clients to use
aids and equipment safely
Conduct Personal Alarm Victoria (PAV) assessments
Conduct follow up phone calls to clients in relation to their
progress/ care plan
Provide support with administrative tasks required to facilitate client
care within service coordination quality processes
Liaise and communicate within an interdisciplinary environment
Identify and facilitate improved service delivery of the Allied Health
Assistant role across the Primary Care Team
Under direction of manager supervise AHA student placements and
other relevant staff as requested
Identify relevant opportunities for professional development
Meet and strive to exceed personal and workgroup targets for Key
Performance Indicators as set from time to time by PVCH and/or
funding bodies in areas such as Safety, Efficiency and
Effectiveness, amongst others
To practise effective infection control procedures
Administration:
To ensure adequate client records and statistical information are
recorded and maintained as directed by Plenty Valley Community
Health policies
To undertake the monitoring, storage, cleaning and maintenance of
supplies and equipment as directed
Assist with administration duties and quality activities as directed
Organisational:
To abide by and actively support PVCH’s OH&S policies to ensure
the safety and wellbeing of the employee, clients, colleagues,
contractors and visitors.
To ensure that the confidentiality of PVCH clients is respected and
upheld at all times.
To actively support the Vision, Purpose and Values contained in the
PVCH Corporate Plan.

To abide by the Policies & Procedures of PVCH (which may be
amended from time to time).

Position Description
Key Selection Criteria
Mandatory:
Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistant or equivalent qualification
Experience working as an Allied Health Assistant in a
multidisciplinary team or community setting
Ability to effectively communicate with clients, their families and/or
carers.
Understanding of chronic health conditions and active ageing.
Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
Relevant experience that demonstrates the Core Competencies,
Attributes and Capabilities.
Working with Children’s Check
Desirable:
Proficiency in a community language would be an advantage
First Aid Certificate
Experience with group facilitation
Qualifications / Experience in public health or related field
Conditions of Employment
Remuneration:
The employee will be paid in accordance with the
Award/Agreement, including any overtime directed by the
Supervisor.
Salary Packaging is available for permanent and fixed term
employees, in accordance with prevailing legislation and PVCH
Policy.
Novated Car Leasing is available for all permanent employees.
Location:
The employee will be expected to work, either temporarily or
permanently, at any site operated by PVCH.
Hours of duty:
The hours of duty will be as rostered by the employee’s Supervisor
which may include evening and/or weekend shifts.
Pre-employment
checks:
A Police Check is mandatory. In accordance with PVCH Policy,
relevant convictions will be taken into consideration when
considering applicants for this position.
All employees of PVCH must be either an Australian Citizen,
Permanent Resident or have an appropriate Australian visa that will
legally enable them to fulfil the obligations of the contract of
employment.
A Working With Children card (WWC) is mandatory for this position.
Failure to obtain and retain a WWC card will make the employee
automatically ineligible for employment in this position.
PVCH employees who are engaged in direct client care are
required to complete the PVCH Staff immunisation record form,
confirming their consent to receive or declaration that they have
received the recommended vaccinations.

Conditions of Employment
Probationary period:
Confirmation of new employees to PVCH is subject to a 6 month
probationary period, during which time the employee must
demonstrate satisfactory capability to perform the Key
Responsibilities and Duties. This probationary period is regarded as
an extension of the interview process.
Acknowledgement
Position Descriptions may be modified from time to time in accordance with PVCH Policy,
relevant Awards, Agreements or Legislative amendments. Awards and Agreements may be
