Parking
Please park in the grass lot (Lot 31) at the corner of First Street and Peabody Drive. Use the north
entrance to the lot off of First Street. Walk down Irwin Service Drive (the road that runs between ARC
and Memorial Stadium) to the back entrance of ARC. Do not enter ARC from the main entrance on
Peabody.
Academic Regalia
We have already received the necessary information to order your academic regalia. Should you require
rented regalia, it will be provided free of charge and distributed in ARC Multipurpose Room 7. Regalia
will be labeled and hanging in alphabetical order by last name. Once you have found your regalia,
please put it on.
Following the ceremony, return your regalia to one of the collection bins located in the garage area as
you exit the stadium toward Irwin Service Drive.
You are encouraged to wear comfortable, casual clothing under your regalia to combat the heat. Casual
clothing is also appropriate for the picnic following the ceremony in the grass lot outside
Memorial Stadium.
Robing Room – ARC Multipurpose Room 7
Report to the robing room between 9:30-10:00 a.m. Academic regalia will be in the robing room. The
faculty robing room will be air conditioned and chilled soft drinks and water will be provided. There will
also be a bottle of water at your seat on the field. The robing room will not be secured during the
program, therefore do not bring or leave valuables there.
Line-up
A member of the Special Events staff will line up faculty at 10:20 a.m.
Procession
Faculty march two abreast and follow the college gonfalons. There is no special order among the
faculty. If you wish to sit with a particular person, make sure that person is either behind or in front of
you—not beside you. Faculty in the right line sit in the section to the right (facing stage), while faculty
in the left line sit in the section to the left (facing stage). Faculty Guides will direct the procession and
assist with seating. Faculty remain standing until Faculty Guides take their seats in the front row and
those on stage sit. The procession and ceremony will be projected live onto the large video scoreboard.
Individuals with disabilities who require special assistance to fully participate in the ceremony
should contact the Special Events Office at 333-8834 for additional directions.
Recession
Faculty participate in the recession and follow the platform party down the center aisle. Faculty Guides
will lead the faculty by starting with the front row.
Picnic
Exit Memorial Stadium through the garage entrance which leads to Irwin Service Drive. Lunch will be
served in the grass lot outside Memorial Stadium with students crossing First Street to Lot 31 to eat.
Vehicular traffic will not be allowed on First Street immediately following New Student Convocation.
There are no tables and chairs in Lot 31; students and faculty may sit together in the grass during the
picnic.
