SETUP - CONNECTING THE GAME RECORDER
Connect the Game Recorder before you run the software:
a. Connect the Audio/Video cable firmly into the back
of the Game Recorder
b. Connect your game console to the provided Audio/Video cable using
the corresponding colours (white and red for audio, and yellow for
video).

c. Connect the Game Recorder to an available USB port on your computer
/ laptop (use the included USB extension cable if required).

INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE
Make sure the Game Recorder is connected to an available USB port.
Cancel any hardware wizards that may appear.
a. Insert the provided installation disc into the CD drive. The following
installation menu will appear on-screen:

Power Director Activation code:
The activiation code for Power Director 8.0 DE
is located on the CD sleeve.
b. Click ‘Install Game Recorder‘ to commence the installation.
You will see the following screen:
c. Click ‘Next‘. The Game Recorder driver will now install.
d. When the driver has finished installing, click ‘Finish‘.

e. You will now see the following screen:
f. Click ‘Next‘ to continue and click ‘Install‘ to commence installation
of the Game Recorder software.
g. Click ‘Finish‘ when completed. A Game Recorder icon will be placed
on the desktop.

SETTING UP YOUR CONSOLE
Your game console should have been provided with an Audio/Video
composite cable for connection.
Make sure that you have the correct settings selected for your game
console before connection to the Game Recorder USB device:
To setup the Xbox 360 - please go to:
My Xbox > System Settings > Console Settings > Display >
PAL settings - Select either PAL 60 or PAL 50 depending on the game
that you want to play.
You can also change the screen aspect ratio by going to:
Screen Format > Normal or Widescreen.

To setup the PS3 - please go to:
Settings > Display Settings >
You will have four output options available, select Composite / S-Video,
then select either 4:3 or 16:9 for TV type.
To setup the Wii - please go to:
Wii Settings and Data Management >
Wii Settings > Screen > Widescreen Settings >
Select either 4:3 or 16:9 for TV type.

USING THE GAME RECORDER SOFTWARE
Double click the ‘Game Recorder‘ icon on your desktop to state the
software.
(xbox 360 example)
The Game Recorder software can either record in a window
or full-screen. Press the ‘Maximise‘ button to run full-screen.
PAL is the default video standard in the software. If you are running
your game console at PAL-60 or NTSC you will need to change the video
standard in the Game Recorder software.

SOFTWARE OPTIONS
There are other options available in the Game Recorder software. To
access them, ‘right-click’ in the viewing window then select the option
that you require:
Deinterlace - High, Medium & Low
Standard - NTSC, PAL-M, PAL-60, PAL
Source - Composite, S-Video
Aspect - 4:3, 16:9

Record - OFF, ON (HIGH), ON
(MEDIUM), ON (LOW)
Snapshot - BMP, JPG
Topmost - All other windows will
appear behind the Game Recorder
software
Setup - Video quality, Record path
ADJUSTING RECORDING QUALITY
The Game Recorder software has three different quality options for
recording.
• Low - 360 x 240 @ 30fps
• Medium - 720 x 480 @ 30fps
• High - 720 x 480 @ 60fps (recommended for high end PC’s)
The ability to record at the highest level, while maintaining a smooth
real-time preview, is dependat on the type of PC that you have. If you
find that the real time preview is not smooth when recording, choose a
different recording level for smoother playback.
The Game Recorder software saves all recordings in MPEG-4 format
utilising the Xvid codec.

GAME RECORDER HOTKEYS
The Game Recorder software supports hotkeys for recording:
F5 - Low record / Low stop
F6 - Medium record / Medium stop
F7 - High record / High stop
F8 - Snapshot JPEG
F9 - Snapshot BMP
CTRL + L - Low record
CTRL + M - Medium record
CTRL + H - High record
CTRL - Stop recording
CTRL + J - Snapshot JPEG
CTRL + B - Snapsho BMP
Please note: The first time you take a snapshot you will need to

EDITING YOUR VIDEO
You can edit your recording with the included Cyberlink PowerDirector
8.0 SE video editing software. Edit out unwanted video, add transitions,
effects, titles, music or a voice over and upload directly to YouTube, burn
to DVD or output to sharing via email.
A complete instruction manual can be found on the included CD. Please
note that the manual is for the full retail version of the software.
Features not available in the included SE version will be marked in the
manual as ‘optional feature‘.
Also included on the CD is VLC, which is an open source media player that
supports all the different types of video and audio formats available. Use
this software to playback your game recordings in the correct aspect
ratio instead of windows Media Player.
