Cold, non-ventilated roof
Warm roof
contain a high quality micro-porous film protected
between two layers of nonwoven polypropylene
This type of roof is not ventilated and has insulation
fitted at ceiling level between joists.
Warm roofs contain insulation below or between
rafters.
The micro-porous film is stretched in two directions,
and contains less chalk than cheaper, low quality
films. This gives WEBUV membranes a unique
combination of high breathability and
watertightness.
Taut roof structure
Taut roof structure
When WEBUV membranes are supported on sarking,
or are unsupported and pulled taut across rafters,
then counter battens must be fitted above the
membranes then tiling battens. This creates a
channel for water to run down the membranes
and into the gutter.
When the rafter space is fully filled with insulation,
the WEBUV membranes are pulled taut across the
rafters in contact with the insulation. Counter
battens must be fitted above the membranes
then tiling battens.
Draped roof structure
Draped roof structure
When WEBUV membranes are unsupported
and draped 10mm down into the rafter space,
then tiling battens can be fitted directly above
the membrane.
When the rafter space is partially filled with
insulation, the WEBUV membranes should be draped
10mm down into the rafter space. Tiling battens
can be fitted directly above the membrane.
Roofs with WEBUV membranes do not need roof
space ventilation, making the roof more energy
efficient.

WEBUV breather
membranes
● are a secondary barrier against rain, snow or dust
that penetrates the outer tiles or slates
● allow the roof to breathe – water vapour
passes through, removing the need for
traditional ventilation
● reduce the risk of condensation in the roof
● reduce the risk of wind uplift of tiles or slates
● are BBA certified for use supported on sarking or
unsupported, in both warm and cold roofs, and
in timber frame walls
