DECISION I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full. I will answer your questions in turn: Question 1 - Do you deploy body cameras in your force? If Yes: Yes Question 2 - How many body cameras is your force able to deploy at any given time? This is dependent on operational factors, it is impossible to say how many will actually be deployed at any given moment. Currently the MPS deploys around 1000 body cameras as part of an MPS/MOPAC funded pilot. There are also a further 2-300 cameras locally funded and deployed across the MPS. The MPS is planning a full roll out of 22,000 cameras in 2016. Question 3 - Does your force deploy body cameras to regular officers? Yes – as part of the roll out, body cameras will be personal issue to most regular officers in public facing operational roles Question 4 - Does your force deploy body cameras to special constables? Yes – as part of the roll out Special Constables will be able to access pool issue cameras for their duties Question 5 - Who is the portfolio lead for the purchase, deployment and maintenance of body cameras in your force? If No to Q1: Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley is the Senior Responsible Officer with overall accountability for the implementation and deployment of body worn video related functions within the MPS.
